@MKKhanzo
I remember MK3 and UMK3 didn't work on these split cores of MAME 2003 Plus by Wiimpathy, but i can say you i have compiled the dedicated Midway core of MAME 2003 (https://github.com/libretro/mame2003_midway) for the Wii using RA Wii 1.7.6 and... guess what? MK3 and UMK3 are fully working here!!!
Right now i'm doing some more testings, but i will release this MAME 2003 Midway core soon in my dedicated thread.

They need to be added to the source code as valid romsets I believe, while we're at it if anyone can do the same for SF2 Mix on CPS1, that would be incredible.
I also see there's a killer instinct core here? Does it run even halfway decently at all on the Wii?
Hey there, I wanted to try undertaking this task with my very limited experience. what's a good place to get started? i'm guessing i would need to pull request for mame 2003+ add these roms (UMK3+, NBA JAM Rewind and SF2 Mix), then compile as the split cores?
Every Mortal Kombat game i have tried in MAME 2003 Midway (MK1/MK2/MK3/UMK3) worked and runs fine at full speed or at least i think so (but you have to enable DCS Speedhack).
I saw the 2019 version of the hack UMK3+ (umk3p) was added to playable titles long time ago.
However, it has some audio issues regarding to DCS. I'll try adding those fixes that were made time ago later.

I have been trying every version of MAME for the Wii including this. I can't get light gun working on any of them. I get the roms to load and run (like Hogan's Alley) but it only works with the d-pad. I have tried re-mapping the gun controller section with no luck. All the forum posts indicate it just works. I haven't seen any info on control mapping. Help.

At best I think you're only going to get like 3 or 4 games working. Better to stick to the standalone emulators that natively support the Wii remote as a lightgun like FCEU GX, SNES9xGX, Genesis Plus GX and Wiistation
EDIT: It's been over a year since I last turned on my Wii... Wiimote got a bit yellow somehow!
Sorry for necrobumping this thread!
But just found a MAME 0.78 Romset that, in theory is compatible with these cores.
Over 4000+ roms are in theory playable, and I'm using it to create a new compatibility list.
I already had my own lists but they're not from 0.78 romset, but rather the "Full Non Merged 2003" romset and right away I've noticed a lot of inconsistencies.
For instance:
- xmen2p.zip from "Full Non Merged" works with Core E flawlessly.
- xmen2p.zip from "0.78" works with Core E (alt) but not with Core E.
- wow.zip from "0.78" has sound issues.
- wow.zip from "Full Non Merged" is fine.
- narc.zip from "Full Non Merged" has fps issues.
- narc.zip from "MAME 0.185" reaches 57 fps.
Do we have a real estimate of the amount of roms that works?
I've noticed the "Compatibility List" above this post, but it's missing some roms that I have working in my RetroArch-Wii!
What I'm trying to do is a "more complete list" using:
"MAME 0.78 romset" containing +4K roms.
"Full Non Merged MAME 2003 Plus" containing +5K roms.
"Whatever other MAME romsets might work with the split cores"
Just asking if anyone has a more complete list than my lists (attached below 748 different working roms! excluding CPS1, CPS2, CPS3, NEOGEO, FB ALPHA 2012, MAME 2000).
If you happen to know more roms that works, please post them so I can test them with "0.78" which is the version "MAME 2003 Plus" is based from.
Este video es demasiado estúpido. Jamás debes de mover la configuración de MAME dentro de los cores, por que puedes romper controles debido a que modificar controles desde menú de MAME crea archivos .ini...

Will take a look at your compatibility list, then I'll extract the roms from 0.78 romset, and I'll add them to my compatibility lists.
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: narc.zip romset 0.135 (sorry for typo) in MAME2000... not MAME 2003 Plus.

Sorry for double posting:
Full Non Merged should be better, as it has 5077 roms against 4723 (which makes the list much smaller because it's got a lot of clones and bootlegs)...
So I'll stick with the Non-Merged, and when I'm done sorting the roms I'll update the Rom's List.
