Homebrew makeing a patch

Ok im trying to make a patch to get super scribblenauts to get it to run on a dstt clone(r4i red box) but there is one problem i dont know how to make a patch for evan how they work and there is no patch out for this game so if u can run me through on how a patch works and how to make one that would be great. and every homebrew i tryed didnt work so can sombody help

I'm not at all experienced in this, so I can't provide any help, but I know that there are a lot of people here that can.
But I'm skeptical that this patch will get off the ground. I'm sure the people that make the DSTT are trying to make this very patch, but for whatever reason can't.
