Hacking M3 Simply arrived!

I tried R4 1.05 on my M3 Simply and it DIDN'T WORK.

Of course, I hope they fix their issue with 512KB SAV files. Why do they always have to be half a megabyte??! :'(

I actually don't think this is an issue or problem to fix rather. I think this was purposely done so it doesn't have to figure out what size the save is and adjust accordingly. The largest a save file could be is 512KB, therefore, as long as the save file is 512KB, any game shouldn't have a problem saving since they'd either be 512 or under. Saves them coding time I guess and I don't have a problem with it. It's actually a smart and easy way to approach it.

Actually, I agree with you. I assumed before I got it that the DAT file contained all the save size for every game, like the SC DS(one). I'm not really sure, but I do know that every game I have played so far works flawlessly.

i read somewhere that the 1.30r4= 1.00m3s not the 1.05.

for im pretty sure r4 currently has the better firmware of the two. i've been looking for a way to decompile the .dat file to either add skinning or remove the checks from the r4 firmware however ff III has been taking up all my time.

I posted that R4DS 1.04=M3DSS 1.00 which it does. Anyway, what 512KB for a save file. It's a freakin 1/2 a megabyte, so what? Are you trying to hold your whole rom collection on one device with a shitload of music and porn. How games do you play at a time. 2...3 max.

the 512 kb saves do not bother me. my 1gb sandisk holds about 20 games so thats 10megs in saves. not bad if u ask me. i'd rather have the simple approach of it making every save file 512kb than to bother with save state issues.

Wow. Got mine today and I'm a bit disappointed to see Castlevania PoR crashing away (Kingston 1Gb - FAT).

Who are the R4 people?? If they are from the M3 team, why the split??

R4 has less complaints off the bat and they seem to be supporting their hardware well already. I'll take that as a sign of things to come.

you mean 1.4R4=1.0M3, because 1.5 was just released and it supports skinning and brightness switching, as far as i can tell, the m3 doesn't.

Are you sure that Castlevania PoR crash with your Kingston 1GB - FAT ?

It crashed right at the beginning of the game. Just before the chase, I went into the menu and then it crashed when I got back out.

I can check it on my Sandisk Ultra. (Which seems fine so far as FAT32)

EDIT: I've played it for about 10mins, warping like a madman (portraits and tablets) and pausing a lot more. No crashes. It saves a hell of a lot faster on this card as well.

EDIT 2: Peeps, it's just pot luck. Just tried it on the Kingston again for 10 mins. Can't recreate the crash.

I just got my m3 ds simply today at 9:15am, I ordered it yesterday morning around 10am. I wasn't expecting it to come that fast.

Anyway I am about to mess around with it, so if anyone needs any games tested let me know, I can also test single card download play.

i might come back and edit this some time in the future for all i've tried to do was start a crash by spamming the start button. still have to play with the teleport stones, wind, and the other guy that sells however im right after the part u defeat the 2 sisters and i've been taking out those paintings one at a time. once i finish ff3 i'll let u know how this goes.

Does anyone know if Corsair MicroSD cards will work properly with the DS Simply? I'd assume they would, but I know some cards can be picky about what media they are given, and that some manufacturers use sub-standard parts.

Modchipstore.com is fucking me big time; they still haven't sent me the M3 Simply, and they're refusing the answer any of my emails.

For those of you who didn't see, modchipstore sent me a Transcend MicroSD card instead of the M3 Simply. How do you fuck that up?

Is anyone else having trouble running Wario Ware Touched on the DS Simply? I just get a white screen on startup. Any ideas? It's unpatched/trimmed as far as I know.

i've been playing this for quite awhile. transferred the save over from my supercard to r4 and im at the final castle. loads and plays no errors.
