hey xennon if you dont mind can you take a look at the problem i was having with wood heres a quote from my original post.

QUOTE said:
slight problem with this...all my saves needed to be defragged so i did it then i decided to switch the theme it was all good so far but then when i went to go play a game with cheats on (dragon quest 9) it halted while loading it which i dont understand because it didnt halt before i tried using cheats...i also get this same error when trying to play golden sun ds

its says
arm7 start: memory 02380000
arm7 size: 0028fc4/0028fc4
/loader.cpp (149)
00416657
nds is fragmented. please defrag using pc. halt.

theres more before it but yeahhh idk what file im supposed to defrag any ideas?

EDIT: i cant start any games at all and i use to be able to play all of them once my saves were defragged hope that helps a bit (using the very first model m3i0)

EDIT2: tested playing chrono trigger (no cheats at all) and it worked fine no need to defrag anything...

EDIT3: tried deactivating cheats on Dq9 it still halts...gonna defrag the rom its self and see what happens

EDIT4: didnt work...help? please? xennon?

EDIT5: this makes no sense i had 2 roms of this game (different names) and the other rom of dq9 worked flawlessly WTH what about mine?

EDIT6: ok so to get this straight...so far all my roms work BUT golden sun ds and my 2nd rom of dq9 which is an EXACT copy of the one that works (they give me the error above) but with a different name...wtf my head hurts what can possibly make one rom work but its exact copy with a different name not work....my mind has been blown i think im just having an unlucky day.

EDIT7: wow...it really is the nds file because i renamed the saves for both the dq9 games and my save worked with the other rom...was it the cheats? did the cheats do something to the nds file itself? now i got a headache...it still doesnt explain why golden sun ds wont work...

EDIT8: i think i realized whats wrong i just tried playing my english patched pokemon black and it wouldnt load (same error) and then i realized that the golden sun rom i had was englished patched (well kinda) so im guessing that wood doesnt support roms with patches...damn that sux frown.gif im just mad i had to learn the hard way...gonna investigate further.

EDIT9: weird soma bringer and tales of innocence work (english patched both of them) but kingdom hearts re coded wouldnt work...i also grabbed a clean version of golden sun ds and it gave me the same error as before.

EDIT10: ok this is to much work for me idk why it doesnt work with certain patched and idk why it wouldnt work when i tried to use cheats but imma go to bed please feel free to help out guys night.

EDIT11:ok just woke up gonna download a defragging sofware and run it on my entire 16 gig microsd hope this works ill update when its done

EDIT12: FINALLY! using a defrag software on the fragged nds roms they managed to load and run perfect gonna try to run using cheats now.

EDIT13: cheats work! now a few of my roms couldnt be defragged by the software i used...anyone got any ideas on how i can get them working or should i just re download them?

the roms are still fragged idk why they wont defrag but i just wanna know why fragging is such a big deal in woodm3

Because my WoodM3 is incomplete...
I'm just adding relative offset to NDS offset in TF. So complete sequential access is required.

I got that with super scribblenauts sav
I just copied to PC and put it back and it works again

so im guessing theres no way to get full access or are you working on it?

If I want to work on it, I have to fix r4sdhc sav before...

im not sure how often people tell you this but you are absolutely amazing for what you do i really appreciate everything you've done i bet if you wanted to you could make your own firmware for the m3/r4 that'll destroy everything the actual devs could ever make thanks man you rock.

and what do you mean the r4sdhc save? you cant save games on wood when you use an r4sdhc? or are you talking about the new r4 that just came out?

No, WoodR4SDHC requires sav is defragmented.

go to yasus site and download ysmenu you can find the site through google (its in japanese but you can find it easy by using ctrl F and typing ysmenu)

now put the ysmenu.nds in the m3 ninetail folder and rename it to ysm3.nds

run the ysm3.bat by just double clicking it

should say patch successful

if you only want ysmenu copy the ysm3.nds file, the ttmenu folder, and the ysmenu folder

also for games to run on ysmenu you have to have a ttmenu.sys file google the newest dstt kernel and it should come in the package jus copy it to the root of your sd.

ysall is nds.m3loader.nds wrapper.
yswood is /__rpg/m3loader.nds wrapper.
They require /ysmenu/ysmenu.nds apart from /ysm3.nds

i just wanted to add my $0.02 to the end of this thread to possibly help people who have an M3 Real, who might have had to go through the same process i did: reading this thread a few times -- without understanding very well the first time around. i believe i have now grokked it correctly and am going to summarize here with what i hope is helpful advice for others who are not regular denizens of this forum, but want the new hotness

M3 NineTail *instructions* excerpted and clarified:

[How to use]
once booted into M3 Sakura, you can launch the nds roms in the root of the microsd card (woodm3.nds, TouchPod.nds, others*) to switch to other firmware.
But please note that once you have booted another firmware, you cannot go back to M3Sakura until you reboot the DS.

*: on my M3 Real, not all roms in the root of the card are bootable from M3Sakura, but most are. for instance, woodm3.nds worked but yswood.nds did not. i'm pretty sure it depends on which firmware you've booted from. i'll leave this one to the experts to clarify.

[How to install, assuming blank microSD card and use of a pc that can run .bat files]
1. "Install latest M3Sakura" -- clarified:
1a. get latest M3Sakura from the M3Sakura thread in this subforum, or from linfoxdomain.com.
1b. unpack what you've downloaded, and copy the M3Sakura 'SYSTEM' folder to the root of your card.
2. Download M3 NineTail from this thread and unpack -- it should unpack into a folder called 'm3_ninetail'

3. "Put YSMenu as YSM3.nds then execute ysm3.bat" -- clarified:
3a. aquire YSMenu from Yasu's site: http://home.usay.jp/pc/etc/nds
3b. unpack what you've downloaded, and rename YSMenu.nds to YSM3.nds
3c. copy YSM3.nds to the m3_ninetail folder that contains ysm3.bat
3d. run ysm3.bat -- you should get a brief window that will tell you if you patched YSM3.nds successfully or not. hopefully you did.

4. "Put extinfo.dat / infolib.dat / savlib.dat to TTMenu/."
4a. to be honest, those 3 files were already present in the m3_ninetail/TTMenu folder when i downloaded my copy, so i'm not 100% sure if this instruction is still valid/necessary.

5. If you want to set Sakura/Kaura lng to Japanese, extract system_japanese.7z (overwriting system folder)
5a. if you want to run Sakura or Kaura in japanese, extract the contents of system_japanese.7z to the m3_ninetail folder.
6. "Copy all files in this folder to your microSD" -- clarified:
6a. now that your m3_ninetail folder is prepped, copy all the contents (various folders and files) to the root of your card, allowing the contents to overwrite anything that may already be present in the SYSTEM folder that you copied in step 1b. (Mac users, take note -- copying a folder on top of a folder with the same name will *replace* the contents instead of merging them, you may wish to do this step on a pc)
7. "(On your opinion) extract iTouch.7z and copy iTouch folder to your microSD" -- i believe this is self-explanatory.

if you're like me and have an M3 Real, launching woodm3.nds from the browser in M3Sakura will get you to the Wood release with the 1.15 core, if that's the thing you're after.

i'm pretty sure that's it -- go forth and have fun! if i've missed anything, pm me and i'll edit this post.

and big ups to Xenon++ for a sweet release, thanks very much.

This is ridiculous, i'm starting to think i wasted my money buying an M3i (Z003) because the M3 team is never gonna update, and any other custom (wood) won't work on it. So can anyone recommend something else that Ninetail or wood will work on?

i think ysm3 will work on a the gmp z003 but idk if it does then i reccomend setting it to auto boot and using that if not then idk.

i didn't think ysm3 worked on the Z003? Can anyone comfirm this? Or direct me to where i can find out how to do it?

Sigh...

I just recommend R4iSDHC RTS.
