I have an M2 sitting around here. I've not paid much attention in recent months. I am assuming that there is still no way to run GBA roms from the thing? I only ask as I'm trying to get my GBA back into regular usage (mostly for my son) and the only other thing I have a 1 gigabit flashcart that takes about 30 minutes to flash.

I realise the M2 is probably still little more than a paperweight, but I figured I'd ask before giving up entirely.

Do you mean an M3? And if so, which one?

All the M3s that plug into the GBA slot can be used in any GBA consoles to play GBA roms without modification. Just write the GBA rom and that's it.

Except that if you have the Lite (Slot2/MicroSD), you'll have to swap the case if it's using the smaller case designed for the DS.

No, I think he has a GBAMP V2. That can't run GBA ROMs, only GB and some GBC, with Goomba Color.

The flashcard , on the other hand, should work, and run GBA games. And if a game takes, say, 10 hours to finish, 30 minutes to flash the card doesn't seem too long

Actually, only the M3-perfect range can play the majority of GBA games
The M3-professional range only have very very limited GBA support

If I'd have meant M3, I'd have said M3

My M2 largely sits gathering dust. Will have some vague use for video for the kids, but it's frustrating having it here and not having any real use for it. Wish it could play GBA games. But GB/GBC is an interesting idea. May as well make some use from it.

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
