Homebrew Luma3ds RO patches?

In the latest update to Luma3ds, it said that they added support for RO patches (this will allow editing certain game aspects that weren't previously possible, ex: starters in pokemon games)

Is there a step by step guide on how to use and apply them? Thanks

So you just put them on the root of your sd card?
As far as I know, you would simply make the ROM Hack with the changes you want (for example, custom starter Pokemon) and it will now run correctly, thanks to these new patches. I've not tried it myself, but one would assume it would work as such.
