So I was using Luma3DS to apply some patches on my cartridge of Pokémon Sun, I replaced the "luma" folder on my sd card with the luma folder of the patch required to apply the changes in the game, but after some time, I decided to sell my copy of pokemon sun, but now I'm worried.... does applying a patch to a cartridge using this method, alter in any way the files inside the game itself so if someone else decides to play the game in their own 3ds, the game is going to be changed? or does it only apply the patches in my 3ds? (the one with the patch files inside the sd card)

carts are roms. which means read only memory. outside patching will never affect whata on the card.
