The DS remake of the second Lufia SNES (Estpolis in Japan) game is coming soon to Japan. Today, a new trailer was released on the game's official webpage. It is fully 3D, with a mostly overhead perspective and boasts some really impressive DS graphics, some of the best on the system. You will notice that the game bears very little resemblance to the original, besides the characters and story. It's now an action RPG, as opposed to the original's turn based gameplay. The good news is the action seem very well done. You'll also notice in this trailer that one of the great old tunes returns- the Castle of the Sinistrals. Epic tune!

The trailer-

They decided to remake the second game instead of the first one because Lufia 2 was actually a PREQUEL. You play as Maxim and his friends. The first Lufia game would take place after this one. I really loved the first one and would love them to remake it as well. Lets hope this one does well critically and financially, then it'll probably happen!

Coming 2-25-10, just a few more weeks! Also a soundtrack will be available, which is probably well worth it, the Lufia series has great music.

OMG I LOVE THESE TYPES OF GAMES FOR THE DS! Wish there were more

I just love action pack rpg the real time way unlike those FF style turn based

can i type the F word?

Cos, holy shit, i always knew that sooner or later we will have a lufia, the gameboy color had one, the game boy advance had one, and finally we will have a lufia

... Lufia went XTREME!!!!!!!

What is there left to be remade in a "cool" and "streamlined" and "accessible" way? Fuck capitalism.

Very awesome game. Far superior than the GBA one at least.
Unfortunately, as with all Japanese RPGs, it might never be released overseas.

Oh wow, this looks uberly awesome and full of win! I love ARPGs and I really hope this will see an English release soon! If not, I still have hope for some translation team to pick it up because this game looks too good to go untranslated..

I dont know whether to be happy or dissapointed! Happy that this is actually looking like a good action RPG or dissapointed that this looks as far away as possible to the original Lufia 2 as can be!

Other than the characters and im guessing minor bits of the story this look nothing like Lufia 2!! They easily could have just made a new action rpg with new characters and a new storyline but it looks like they decided to cash in on the Lufia name to try and drag in old school lufia fans to play there new action rpg! Only to find its nothing at all like the original!

However i could be wrong i have not played it yet but looking at that gameplay video thats what seems to have happened!

Oh yesh! I'd forgotten all about this, but by seeing a new trailer I'm even more hyped than before!

Wow..this has got to be the best looking(graphically) DS game I've ever seen. Now we just have to hope it gets a US release

This game looks amazing!
Ive loved all the different versions and the DS Hack n Slash gameplay makes its look even better plus the graphics are nice too.

looks very nice esp the FFCC-DS type of gameplay with revamping... graphically much better (wonder if we are gonna have tht quality of cutscenes/FMVs)
still noticed that there were slow downs when fighting or similar
