No, not that stupid ass Japanese match-making service. It's the only independent arcade left in Toronto (RIP Funland). Yesterday, I went with my friend who was in a BlazBlue tournament. It got pretty exciting with all the people cheering for their team, yelling when someone got sucked into a combo. I was too busy gambling to play BlazBlue CONTINUUM SHIFT.

Oh dear God, electronic horse race betting. You have no idea how much that shit fucks you over. I didn't know how to play because all the instructions and shit were in Japanese. So I threw in some quarters and pressed a few buttons by accident. I won like, 100 credits. I cashed out, and spent like, 50 playing the Taiko Drum game.

Then I made the stupid mistake of going back, trying to win more credits. Unfortunately, I lost it all and actually ended up going $10 under trying to buy more credits and win back the stuff I lost.

We left, but I went to another friend's house, and we came back to LoveGety Station at like, 2AM. No one was there, so I got to play some BlazBlue: Continuum Shift in arcade mode, where real people couldn't kick my ass.

It was almost closing time, and the manager was standing behind me, watching me play. I told him I wouldn't put any more credits in. He walked away.

Then someone started playing on the other side. I was just thinking, WHAT THE FUCK? NOOO!

Of course, I pulled out Jin and some ice cars and C-spams. The fight felt pretty even, until we got to REBEL 5. Then I was just fucking combo'd for lief.

On my way out, I took a look to see who the hell Astral Finish'd me.

It was the manager.

;_;

lol, sounds like an amazing night.

Sounds like the manager know his stuff.

The wonders of gambling.

Ouch! So, where's this arcade in Toronto? I hated walking into Funland (it was a massive attack of "wow, a girl!")

Yeah, gambling in whatever form sucks ass - you end up in debt to a machine...:S

Outskirts of Toronto. It's in North York/Thornhill area, so all the Asians will welcome you with open arms. It's around Highway 7 & Leslie. Here, have a price list:

Most fighting games: 50c
BlazBlue Continuum Shift & SFIV: 75c
Driving games (Initial D, Maximum Tune, etc.): 50c
Taiko Drum: $1.25
Drummania/Guitar Freaks (eat shit rockband players): $1
Time Crisis 4 & Rambo: $1

No pinball or DDR here. That stuff's too popular or too american to be in LoveGety Station.

Also, don't hate Funland, it's dead because no one loves arcades anymore. Doesn't that at all make you the least bit sad?

Agreed. I hate DDR with a passion.....*sigh* Arcades are good - but it's hard to shake the image of smoking and bad "influences" there.

I love arcades - although I haven't been in Playdium in ages - I miss the stuff.

Also, Taiko! I love that game - I should redownload it....

Lol. I bet you I'm better than that manager in BB:CS.

Still, I'd really love to have BB:CS in my "local" arcade. I just played on the PC with my fightan stick, but I'd really like to verse someone that knows how to play. Playing on hell mode is easy mode.

CLEARLY YOU DON'T GET OUT MUCH.

Funland was the best arcade in Toronto. It was downtown, very easily accessible. It had American games too like pinball. Unfortunately, no one gives a shit about arcades anymore, so it closed down.

Pacific Mall's arcade is okay. SFIV on big LCD screens (lol lag), a couple of versus city cabs running Third Strike, some Tekken, and DDR SuperNova and Extreme. But they use tokens, and that's pretty balls.

I haven't been to Playdium in a while TBH, but last time I went, they were running shit games and using an electronic card for credits instead of coins. Really high prices, and I found it to be pretty stupid. The only thing I thought was worth using were the batting cages.

LoveGety is amazing. Tons of Versus City cabs running KoF '98, SFIV, BlazBlue CS (OMFGWAT), and Third Strike. It's more Japanese style though, so some people might not like it. I already described it in the opening post.

So uh, Bently, wanna hang out?
