Misc Losing connection to apponent??

I have recently downloaded Grand Slam Tennis for the wii - whenever I goto online play it connects to the internet fine (I think) but when I get onto the match screen it says 'connection with apponent has been lost.' I have tried about 30 times but can't seem to get to play a match. Are people just deciding not to play me?
I have another problem with online gaming too - when I play animal crossing with a friend from Ohio he can visit my town fine but when I visit his it disconnects. Are the problems linked?? I have 8.0mb broadband speed.

Now I'm getting error code 51331 - I moved my router (had it set up wrong) to the hall - is only 8 meters away.

Follow the steps from Nintendo and you should be playing online eventually.
