I've not checked for or naturally noticed any wiggle to the sides.
Mine do feel like they can slide 0.5-1 or 1-2 (I can't really tell which) millimeters up and down, though.
Right one just nudges the smallest of bits, and the left one feels like double that and gets somewhere (though still very small movements).

They're still firmly attached, however, so I think it's just variance in the mechanism.

Here is the wobble on mine, not sure if its as bad as others but it is a tad annoying.

Just a quick update I contacted Amazon to send a new replacement to see if the other switch had wobbly joycons they couldn't do this as they are out of stock however they gave me a 74.99 gift voucher to rebuy new joycons I have purchased the neon red and blue ones as they grey are what are giving me and others issues. they will arrive by the 11th so I will update the thread then to see if they are wobbly too. If anyone else purchased from Amazon it might be worth a shot doing the same as I now have a spare set of joycons for free before people comment that I'm skint from the pic I'm not it was a blag for free delivery haha

I got a tiny wobble on the left joycon. I think it's possible to just tighten the screws to fix it. But it's not a big issue. It's like 1-2mm movement.

From what everyone is saying its going to be a joycon problem.
The rail is plastic.
I am modeling the joycon so i can 3d print some strap holders.
And the rail is 9.35mm but runninf my cailpers up and down it i get a few 0.05mm difference.
So my guess is either some gor shaved off from sliping on and off or just the spec from the factory where there.

On that note. My blue set is very tight. The grey that came with the system is pretty tight. No play i can feel.
Rhis problem probably wont be sloved its just a bad design. Metal and plastic. Your end up wearing out the plastic and it will get losse over time.

I also say the tear down of the switch and the metal rails are screw into the plastic of the switch. So be careful if you mess with them.
Nintendo really should of did a metal frame for the rail but i can see why. It would of cost more and wireless signals dont like metal to well.

No, the rail on the Switch is metal. On the Joycon it's plastic. It will have wear and tear on it.

Yep, bound to happen. Severity depends on a number of factors though, including how rough you are with it. Does not feel like a toy for children, unlike other Nintendo systems. OTOH worst that happens is you break some joy cons, then have to buy more or buy pro controllers/third-party instead.

Yepp! It's not the end of the world. If I know myself right, I will probably buy a second pair one day before these are worn out. Since I will probably like the look of those I buy.
