Hi, I cannot seem to be able to play local multiplayer between a EU 3DS, and a US 3DS+ Gateway, even though I run the EU rom on the US 3DS to be compatible with the EU 3DS.
Every time I try, I get 'Connection Error'.

here is my setup:

1 USA 3DS to play US games + Gateway
1 EU 3DS (latest version for online multiplayer)

Due to some circumstances, I own two EU copies of Mario Tennis and Monster Hunter 3. Of course, they won't work on my US due to region lock, but I was hoping to use gateway in some way either to remove region lock, or run the EU rom on my US 3DS to play locally.

I heard gateway was working for offline multiplayer yet it does not seem to work for me. Does it only work when both rom and 3DS are of the same region?

some games allow cross region multiplayer iirc, but the rom your using has to match the region of the console, see what games support cross region multiplayer here

moster hunter 3 is a no apparently, but try using the US rom of mario tennis, it may work, that site says mario golf does.....but i suppose it depends on the game

Thanks for the link.
So I do need to have the same region between my game and my console. Too bad, I guess I am limited to games allowing cross region local multiplayer.

better than nothing I suppose... this is the last time I buy region locked consoles. Too many people around me have either JP/US/EU this is a nightmare.
