Hacking LED in GBA expansion pack?

I was just wondering if its possible to put LED light in an m3 Real GBA expansion pack for DS Lite? I know i've seen tutorials for the reguler dust cover but I always have my expansion pack in so that does me no good. So just wondering if putting the LED on the same way you do for the dust cover will ruin the expansion pack or not? or if you have to do it differently.
