Indie developer Color Gray Games' first game The Case of the Golden Idol looks like yet another quirky point-and-click detective game and it's coming next month on PC. The developer and publisher Playstack announced the launch date of the game today and aired a new trailer:

The Case of the Golden Idol is a narrative detective game set in an alternate 18th-century England where players must investigate 11 most strange and gruesome deaths spanning forty years. Something awful connects these tragedies, providing a wider mystery for the player to unravel.

Each case is presented as a snapshot scene frozen in time. Players can freely search through these scenes in whichever fashion they choose to deduce the suspect, motive, and chronology of events. The player’s theory is then placed into an interactive notepad, which in turn will inform the player whether their theory is correct or not.

Challenging players’ abilities to think critically, collect crucial evidence, and interpret clues that will be key to their success, the brain-twisting gameplay will help reveal the true nature of the mysterious Golden Idol and those who covet it. Follow the forty-year journey of a cursed aristocratic family as you untangle a web of deceit and villainy in your hunt for the truth behind this dark conspiracy.

The Case of the Golden Idol launches on PC via Steam this October 13th. There's an extended demo available to try for those interested.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I always thought Saturn emulation would straight up be impossible
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Just the atchiture is insanely complex
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
That's why it annoys me when people rant about things being impossible when it comes to software some things should just be focused on more than others
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
because they want to flex their insane developer skills ofc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
We have ps5 exploits where's an article talking about ps5 emulation?

I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC
