Weapons.
Loved it. Didn't see any of it coming. Sparing but quality gore effects.

Have you watched Prey? We really enjoyed it, not just for the Indigenous representation. The Human Tornado - Pretty much the main inspiration for Black Dynamite. Everything that's in Black Dynamite is in this movie, showing how much of an influence Rudy Ray Moore and his Dolemite character was. This movie feels like a parody of Blaxploitation films, but yet it came out in the midst of that boom. This is a horrible movie with bad acting, gratuitous nudity, unhinged editing, lack of continuity, lack of focus with the plot, terrible dialogue, some racism and gay stereotypes, shitty action sequences that are mostly sped up, and stunts that you know were very risky on account of how low budget the movie was. Animal handling? This movie has no idea about that. These flaws and so many more make Dolemite into not only a trash movie, but hilarious! This is easily a "so bad it's good" movie and I had an absolute blast watching it! The title of the movie is fitting as this was a tornado of nonsense. This is the kind of storm I love to chase. 9/10
Predator 2 - A major downgrade from the original movie. From Arnold Schwarzenegger to Danny Glover. From John McTiernan to Stephen Hopkins. From the exotic jungle to Los Angeles. There was just no way for the movie to be at the level of the first movie. It didn't help that Predator 2 had some blatant nods to the first movie, repeating certain things, certain lines even. What saves Predator 2 is how laughably stupid it is, with some cartoonish characters and animated performances. Those help carry the first 2/3 of the movie. The final third becomes a long battle and chase that was sweet, even though it wasn't as iconic as the first movie. The action's not as great as the first movie, the suspense is not there either. Much of the cast is decent though the most animated characters should've had more screen time, such as Bill Paxton and Gary Busey. Some interesting advancement of the Predator lore, and I was pleased to see the Xenomorph skull! Overall, it's a decent movie. 7/10.
Predators - I was skeptical of Adrien Brody leading an action movie, but he wound up doing well. I liked that the movie jumped straight into the action, even though the CGI was rough. The actors did a fine job even though the writing was very thin. The action sequences were decent and the movie had a great pacing with escalating momentum. I like this slightly more than Predator 2. 7.5/10
The Predator - A total mess of a movie. Bad editing, hollow and annoying characters, a gross studio-mandated direction, bad dialogue, awkward comedic moments, lore expansion that felt like franchise fodder, inconsistent pacing, boring at times, compromised as fuck, weak CGI, a very muddy look during nighttime scenes, an an artificial look in daytime scenes. This movie should've been shelved. Shane Black really lost the juice here. The depiction of autism is very tacky and almost feels like a fetishizing of the spectrum. Sterling K. Brown chewed through his bad dialogue and some of the kills are funny. Other than that, this movie was one huge mistake. 3/10
The Smashing Machine - This is very much the anti-biopic, a movie that is so committed to being like a documentary. I respect the attempt, but sometimes I wish there was some conventional stuff. It's kind of a loose movie with plot points raised and then quickly dropped. Benny Safdie essentially took the Smashing Machine documentary and configured it into acting exercises for Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. Both of them succeeded, but I wouldn't go so far as to give them Oscar nominations. Emily Blunt tries, but holy crap did they make Dawn a bad character. And I know this was an exaggeration. Apparently she's not a big presence in the documentary and they added stuff here, but it led to her being pretty obnoxious. Mark and Dawn's relationship were so undercooked. This movie is lowkey an advertisement for the documentary. 7/10
The Smashing Machine (documentary) - I watched the documentary and yeah, it's better than the movie. It gives a bit more insight into Mark Kerr, it's very raw, gritty, and unflinching. Dawn Staples has less presence here than the movie, but she's actually more fleshed out in the doc than the movie! The fight footage is brutal, the movie is edited nicely. It is very lo-fi, but it still gets the job done. It peels back the curtain into the MMA fighting world and shows that these fighters are not sadistic barbarians. They're people who love the sport and also have financial aspirations. It's an unglamorous documentary, which was necessary. 8/10
Yeah a few years ago. I could watch it again, I very much enjoyed it.Have you watched Prey? We really enjoyed it, not just for the Indigenous representation.

Last Night, on YouTube's free to watch [with ads [except I don't get any ads]] :
Just as I watched it a Long time ago. I liked it but, I think if they would have [DELETE]ed the so-called "research department" guys segments, This would have been a better movie. I did NOT like it's sequal Atlantic Rim.
I genuinely thought @AncientBoi was joking. The thing is, there was an actual sequel, Pacific Rim Uprising, in 2018. I didn't watch it, but I heard it wasn't as good as the first movie. Now, I know some studio evacuated aAtlantic Rim is not a sequel. It's an Asylum title and completely unrelated. They make low budget movies to trick people into renting or buying them thinking they are the real deal. They even go as far as to use similar fonts, etc. in advertising. Others from them include Snakes on a Train, The Da Vinci Treasure, Pirates of Treasure Island, Transmorphers, AVH: Alien vs. Hunter, The Terminators, Clash of the Empires, etc.![]()
