KTM will only have checks in place to ensure you've got the proper files.. As for the process? Unless Pingo has made it more stable since a few days ago? It will have a risk of a possible semi-brick.. Just like Julian's sysUpdater.

While I appreciate what Pingo is doing, KTM won't be any more stable than sysUpdater..
This, people should also realize this isn't a miracle program. As it stands now its boot rate is actually worse than sysUpdater

I get that, but it will also clean up after itself, which is worth it IMO. I also mentioned the fact that steveice10 made some commits in the last couple days to his MCH2 and libkhax repos, which might mean a more stable sysupdater is coming.

What specifically is it cleaning up, though? Sounds like as it is, people who have successfully downgraded should be having some issues.. but none have come up.

It's basically uninstalling CIAs which were introduced with newer system versions. If Nintendo would ever look over your system they would find those and probably say you modified it and won't give you warranty anymore, besides that it's simply to be "nice and tidy", nothing else.
Nothing to worry about if your 3DS is long out of warranty anyways.

Guess I'll find out when I get my system back. :)

err a lot of people say they have problems after the downgrade.. like browser not lodaing browserhax or cant install emunand and thing like that.. ktm will leave you with 9.2 original.. no files from any other versions.. sysupdater leaves some 9.2 stuff there.. and justpingo said that it will not have hardbricks wich sysupdater did have.. and lets not forget that n3ds success is lower than o3ds so.. this helps them too... i am waiting for ktm, i have n3ds so i dont want to a hard brick. i hope its get released before 10.4

N3ds successrate will not be any higher with ktm.. justpingo has said this in a tweet already.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

please explain cryptofixed games to me because i do have a n3ds
All i know is they are basically games that have been tweaked to run on lower firmwares, N3ds emunand can only reach 9.5 so any games requiring a firmware above that will need to be specially downloaded cryptofixed versions. (They aren't hard to find so no worries)

As @Coleman_C18 said.. They're fixed games to allow them to run on lower firmwares. One thing to look for, if the download didn't specify, if it hangs at the "Nintendo 3DS" logo? It needs fixed.

if he said that it will have 0 hard-bircks and low soft-bricks then it means it will be safer that sysupdater because this one does have a chance of hard-brick

Really the only ways to brick with current sysUpdater is if you go and throw an O3ds firmware on your N3ds, shut off during the process, or something else of that nature. Since sunday I've helped at least 14 people downgrade and not a single person has bricked.

It may verywell have no brick rate, which is good, but don't think this program will be a fixall. :/

We won't know that til we use it.. and even then? The newer sysUpdater files have an insanely low chance of hard bricking, if any at all. I doubt KTM will see a difference there.

Not to mention? again.. as @Coleman_C18 said.. Most, if not all recent hard bricks are user error...

If you do your research and setup properly? sysUpdater WILL NOT brick your system...

Jeez coleman, calm down with your posts. >>

and dont forget those who have problems too.. like broken browser or unable to install emunand and so on..

You really think that's not a possibility? Unless KTM installs everything to a sandbox first, to verify everything installs properly, those problems WILL arise with KTM. It wouldn't make much sense otherwise.. I guess if KTM backs up the current CIA files in place and rolls back if there's an error...

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
