Let's get this straightened out here.

tl;dr is scires publicly shamed kate and banned her for supposedly stealing an exploit. he then refused to give any more information, even though he pinged everyone kate said on twitter that scires lied, didn't contact her in any way before shaming, scires replied with bullshit that didn't help his case kate revealed that she had full reason to believe that the exploit was already known scires still hasn't responded qyriad got banned and demoted for having an issue with how it's been handled, and expressing that publicly rs has been censoring all conversation about it with bans since.

Kate made what was probably a poor decision to use that bug as an example for the Pixel C, but she did not submit it to a bug bounty program, and never intended to betray or hurt anyone. If it's true that it was never submitted for bug bounty, and was used for something unrelated (pixel C... android tablet?), then is is indeed SciresM that has brought this to light with Ninty because of the drama. It would could possibly now be HIS fault if it gets patched.

Not that I would have ill feelings about it. Lord knows I have a bad temper and it is very unlike him to lose his cool.

Emotions will always prevail over logic so I understand scires. She breached and broke a confidential thing. She was trusted. She should get all the heat.

From moment one, Reswitched was a group of amateurs. Skilled people among their ranks, for certain, but in the end, just a casual group of hackers banded together. This was inevitable to see things continue to crack and crumble. People at their core will usually find drama, reasons to undermine, and other such things. There's no regulation between them besides a Discord server with rules decided by them. TX has been a hacking team, a professional business when most of Reswitched were still in primary school.

Seriously though, this is probably one of the best posts in this thread and it needs more visibility.

Shout out to my heroes: @Memoir , @parrotgeek1 , @Chary yet again, as well as the other mods who are doing excellent work, and to all the fucking legends on this journey, who have kept proceedings entertaining enough that I can wade through the cancer to get to this last page.

Fucking hell, what a shitshow. TX just has to not spontaneously combust and it'll come out looking much better after this.

A drama has at least two sides, and in order not to be biased I believe the previously posted tweets should be added to the OP in order to be informative enough (as in, e.g., the leak was related to a Pixel C bug report).

By policy, I myself don't trust anybody's word until enough evidence is presented.

where did i say that deja vu wasnt a big thing? of course it is, any potential exploit is big. the person i replied to said this was gonna stagnate the hb scene, and that is far from the case. just because an exploit is patched doesnt mean hb is over, it just means we're on the hunt for another entrypoint.

besides, it hasnt even been confirmed on whether or not it was deja vu or something different entirely.

Good shit. There really seems to be two sides to this story. Thank Christ I didn't say too much about it and make a fool of myself.
I will say this, it seems like this is 50% overreaction on everyone's part, if not more. Hopefully it'll blow over soon enough with an easy villain and hero so that everyone can go home happy. /s

What I can see this boiling into down the road is a chicken and egg situation. Are ReSwitched at fault for allowing someone such as Ktemkin into their ranks in the first place or does the blame fall squarely on Ktemkin for ignoring the ethos of her own hacking group? In a really poetic twist of irony, its extremely similar to the bootrom exploit she discovered; is it Nvidia's fault for giving Nintendo a chip with a bug that has supposedly been known well beforehand but was magnified due to the Switch or Nintendo's fault for not having the foresight of outsourcing an SoC that would be the reason their console was cracked wide open?

I believe these are external factors the team had no control over.
It's never easy to know who to trust over the internet.

Kate had personally told reswitched to remove her name from atmosphere credits. She is mainly a hacker not a developer. Yes, the civil war will affect atmosphere development but her personally being absent will not.

All I can say now from this is that @SciresM should come clear about what the fuck is he doing.
I don't mean about the ban, it might be justified.
But the way it was performed and the drama around it is just obscene, probably the worst leadership skill I've ever seen and a possible cause for the final disintegration of ReSwitched, that itself would be his fault regarding how he managed this, and not @ktemkin's fault.

Again I want to state that I am not saying @ktemkin shouldn't have been banned, I don't know enough of what happened.
What I am talking about is the obscene lack of respect, generation of drama, poor and questionable leadership skills and how a long stream of terrible decisions has lead ReSwitched to chaos.

Of course I am nobody, so this will only make me doubt seriously of how much of a leader or team player @SciresM can be, but I guess I will get kind of a "mind your business" reaction and nothing else out of this post.
