ROM Hack Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days issues with r4i3ds

On my old r4 card I was able to play the game fine. But I got it replaced recently with the r4i3ds so I can use sdhc mirco sd cards. I've been able to play most games fine except Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days. I've tried patching it, running it clean, IPS patching it, and even manually hex-editing it. Nothing seems to get it working because everytime I try to load my old save the game freezes up once I click the file. Is there any patch made to work with this cart's firmware specifically? Because I'm afraid that if I change the firmware some other game will mess up, and I don't want that to happen.

Do you have RetroGameFan's YSMenu? All games SHOULD be compatible with that kernel, if your R4 is compatible with RGF's YSMenu...
