The motion sensing camera has already sold out at GAME stores in the U.K. and they claim that in the U.S. pre-orders are "selling out at retailers nationwide—a sign of strong consumer demand before launch on November 4."

Having a high purchase ratio means nothing without a retention ratio to match it. Guess we'll find out after the release. Hope those people pre-ordering have kept the receipt.

The vast majority of the target audience for Kinect/Move already own a Wii. There's no reason they would switch over considering the fact that they don't even play the console they do own.

If there was a Wii 2 with HD resolutions and came with a Nintendo version of Kinect with dedicated processing and a 640x480 resolution. I'm willing to bet people on here would have been going on about how awesome it was, and it would have been a success.
If it came after the Kinect, I be calling it a copy too...

Why you say that?

PS Move on the other hand may be a different story
Sony's vibrator controller hasn't even so much as scratched the surface in terms of competing with the Wii controller for sales. Kinect will fail, it looks horrible and like the Move, has jack all for launch titles. Good luck selling hardware when you don't have the games to play it with.

Because there have not been many good new releases in the last like 6 months aside from Kirby and soon Donkey Kong and Goldeneye. Really it's been a pretty poor year for the Wii game wise.

Everything's a copy of everything. The only thing making a difference is how well and how 'different' the copy is copied. For example, two people can scan the same document, and end up with different results.
If people have the need to argue about it... they're probably copying that off someone else, too!
Then, if science comes in to play, you, yourself, would be a copy. Yay for mutations.

On topic - Kinect already sucks. There's not much that makes it special. There are some things that should be included with your body being a controller. How about a gun for them FPS, have a little 'realism' to it. A sword for the RPGs. I don't know, they're trying too hard to be innovative. Innovative is good, but that has it's limits.

Pick Up and Play - it's pick up and play for a reason. Reasonable difficulty, decent duration, fun, built on some basics.
And spending $500M on Kinect? It's like Meg Whitman's campaign. Fully loaded, with fail.
As for selling out & demand - Hah. The 3DS has some real demand going on. Chances are, people are going to import that. Now -that- is what you call demand. Selling out is one thing, but getting people to import a foreign version, is another. Just an example, though, since it seems fitting with the upcoming 3DS release, and some recent overexaggerations of Kinect = "best thing ever".

kinect is just crap. I knew it was crap when microsoft gave it such a high price. WTF!! you can save up some extra dough and just buy a goddam wii ffs! Wii came out 4 years ago. kinect is just another failure, the fags in microsoft ran outta of ideas to improve gaming. so they decided to shit on top of the wii and sell it as an add on.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Kinect will outsell Move 3 to 1.

Move is already a bomb in North America. They shipped over 1 million units (a number that includes the Navi Controller) and they only sold around 300k.

I hate talking about sales figures but in this case I'll make an exception. A 3/10 sell through at launch is a MASSIVE BOMB.

lmao

Oh and LMAO @ the Sony fanboys defending Sony's blatent plagiarism. Sony has never had an original idea in their lives. Yes, all companies steal but Sony does nothing but steal. They are a creatively bankrupt company and everyone in the world knows it. The company has been in major decline for the past 6 years and its only going to continue until they are out of the market.

All hail the Apple, Microsoft and Nintendo future

Sony is the new Sega.

Stop fooling yourselves people, both PS Move and Kinect suck.

That's harsh,

Although Sega may have fallen on bad times, they were once very innovative and over the years have produced many groundbreaking games such as Jet Set Radio. Games which broke the molde and just had that something.

I still remember the Sega 3D active shutter glasses from the late 80's.

Sony on the otherhand... are all about marketing.

Kinect would have been better with virtual reality glasses. but meh.
