Ok time to rectify some thing a bit.Introduction
Blades
These are the most basic weapons of all, because of this not only are they always reliable and useful, but they don't quite specalize in anything, meaning few people actually rush to use them in multiplayer.
However, even though Blades lack specialty, they rise in versatility making them useful for attacking just as much as defending. Some suggestions for Blades would be to use them to support your teams heaviest hitters, or to take out weakened foes in FFA (Free for All), either way its a good weapon to use to support rather then as a flat-out offensive or defensive weapon.
Some personal favorites of mine are the Gaol and First blades due to the balance they have, but I would recommend Samurai, Burst and Palutena Blades to users who wish to carry out attacks in quick bursts, rather then weather the opponents down like the Bullet and Arum blades require. Dont get me started on how much Royal blades suck...
Claws
Claws are weapons more oriented to "Hit-and-Run" tactics, in which the player does one or two quick strikes before preparing for evasion or fleeing, and light melee combat. Claws excel best when used on the move dynamically since they are not good for "Tanking" (see part III or Clubs) or leading rush attacks. While claws are not the best weapons for melee, Arms and Clubs out do them in that department, they are well oriented to players who want to move across the battlefield effectively and do decent damage. They are mostly oriented to offensive combat and are not good for defensive but are handy in some cases of supporting other players. In LvD they make good weapons for weakening a defensive or distracting others from your Angel, In FFA its best used in a similar style to Blades, to take out weakened players or move across the battlefield confusing targets.
A favorite of most of the Kid Icarus Community are the Beam and Pandora claws, which are both love for their amazing range and close combat ability. However, my favorite (and "Flagship" if you will,) weapon is the Stealth Claws, due to the default ability of having invisible shots and having an effective rapid fire. I know a few people also love Artillery since they have amazing rapid and charge shots and good range but they fail in melee combat. Tiger and Wolf claws are recommended for a nice balance, and Brawlers are ideal for the aforementioned "Hit-and-Run" tactics.
First most of the things here are right but the problem is(and this ain't your fault), most weapons act similarly but they're different enough to completely change your playstyle.
Let's talk about blades shall we?
You're right most blades are balanced, but others are completely not and specialized in a certain type of playstyle. For example:
Samurai blade has a decent range, but the true potential is it's massive melee killing power, which can go over 200 dmg in a few stars. It,s a blade made for an offensive playstyle.
Crusader blade, are great all-around. It's shots covers a wide area and they have high canceling power. Not only that, the crusader blade has the best melee power of all blades due to it's weight. Because of said weight, it's slows the user considerably.
Aurum blade, it completely sucks at melee, but it's range attcaks have decent power. Basically, You really on your quick shots and range attacks to kill. So you need to keep your distance.
I could tell many other examples but I also wanna tackle the claws department.
Where to start? Oh yes.
1st. You summmed up nicely. It's true for most claws like the sthealth claws, hedgehog claws and the like.
But for other claws, the 'hit and run' tactic is the worse you can possibly do.
Raptor claws: It EXCELS at rush tactics. All you need is a bit defense (paired with aries armor), melee stars and/or melee stats, mediocre range stars (or even not), speed (not obligatory but helps) and stamina (helps for any claws users) and you'll be a killing beserker. They're letahl enough to destroy aries armor users with the right power set.
Bear claws: Same as raptors but they SUCK at speed. You'll need the speed stats to increase your performance. Other than that, they have the highest melee power of any claws and they're encouraged at rushing tactics.
Viridi claws: These are perfect to harass opponents, they're dash ch. shots. are decent but dash continuous shots are punishing. Not only that, it has a natural paralysis. You can strengthen it or even combine with another immobolizing status. The opponent will be at your mercy.
Wolf claws: These are actually a bit on the weaker side but they have the burning status. A few stats here and there and they'll be good. They also have a secret potential if you pair it with another certain stat.
Artilery claws: These are for range users as they completely SUCK at melee combat. But their range power excels.
Brawler claws: The hit and run tactics applies here. But they excel at speed and can cover an area for a short period of time. Not only that, their cont. shots have a high canceling power, enough to cancel eyetracks shots. Use them well and they're the perfect anti-eyetracks weapon.
Beam claws: A bit on the weaker side but range-wise they're good. The strategy is using their range capabilites to increase your chances of melee-ing your opponents. And it helps with immobolizing statuses.
Hedgehog claws: They're like the beam claws but they lack range. XD Immobolizing statuses help but weakening will also help reduce the hp in a rather quick maner when you spam the cont. shots. The hit and run tactics can be applied here.
Tiger claws: They're balanced but I rarely see people use them.
To be honest, when the pro's are serious. They're favorite claws are either the bear claws or the raptor claws. Because they have a rather high killing potental and it's easy making a very good one that kills 300+ weapon users without exceed the 230 values.
