You should respect the developers' goal: Making money

The anti-piracy is made so that people are forced to purchase the game. Therefore, by creating anti-piracy, they make money.

I understand how frustrated you are since you cannot download and play this game (I'm in that boat too), but you have to take into account both sides of the "battle." If you are really tired of anti-piracy, then you should learn to get rid of it. I would, but I'm just not that into programming and I don't mind buying a game if it's really good.

man Jamstruth sounds so smart spamming the last 2 pages with shit that I can barely even begin to understand xD

if he so smart why can't he pull all of us outta this dilema?

Because my coding level is on par with SkullCollector's. I can do COMAL (a relatively useless language) at the moment and I've probably forgotten half of that. I have no knowledge of reverse engineering programming at all, all I've been posting is stuff I've gleaned from other posts and attempting to understand that spoiler I posted. I was not spamming, merely making a valid contribution to the thread

No hard feelings man just tryin to fuck with ya xD
you're actually all right compared to some of the KH martyrs I've come across here

Note this though, cause its something that gets on the nerves of many numbers of PC gamers. The Pirates DON'T get these anti-piracy measures. Even if I bought KH:BBS I can't run it on my CFWed PSP but once a hack is found the pirates who have the ISO WILL be able to run it but I'm stuck until a way is found to run the UMD on GEN.
Ok, the argument's a bit weak but it really stands up on PC. There are AP measures on PC which cause problems for many users despite them having bought the games legally (they get rootkit like programs which cause problems with DVD drives etc.) Its like those Anti Piracy videos on DVDs, do you think the pirates put them on their pirated versions? No. So why should we have to sit through them.

KH martyrs? I've never played Kingdom Hearts in my life!!! Might try the DS game or this (once it hacked or unless there's another KH game on PSP)

I personally don't care about KH. I like the thrill of the hunt. Look at the DS scene, no excitement there. Game released dumped works most of the time. Sometimes enix tries some fancyness but no, In 3 days they are eliminated.

That might sound a little crazy, that's probably because it is.

ONTOPIC: AP hurts the legitimate user more than the Pirates. Except with online based games. You run without a DVD in your drive, that makes it easier to run. You can install it as many times as you want without fears. You install faster with an ISO. Your DVD doesn't get worn out, because you have an ISO copy. I don't blame developer's for trying to prevent piracy, but sometimes developers (Bethesda wink wink) don't include AP. Good for them. Relic actually removed AP on the original CoH and I supported them by buying a second copy.

Trust your users and fans, developers. They will respect you MORE for it.

But pretty much every antipiracy measure gets cracked eventually (except maybe this one).

Well its a memory stick block hardcoded directly into the game. The only way around that is to remove the code and I'm not sure whether that's even possible without the source.

Doesn't that solution seem too simple though? Did it really take Sony this long to realize they could do this? They could have been implementing this practically from day one unless I'm horribly mistaken. Also, if it does block access to the memstick, how does the 'software install' feature function? Surely it uses the memstick for the data it installs optionally?

Alright an update that has something to do with 6.20...

#11:05 pm Coldbird> Just for those interested who were following my work on Godeater. - I managed to circumvent some protections. More details later.
#11:06 pm Coldbird> It seems a lot of trouble can get avoided on 6.20 games by hooking the kernel manager calls... and preventing the "back" thread from getting started...
#11:06 pm Coldbird> The "back" thread seems to be the one who does the OPNSSMP.BIN validation ****... preventing it from launching lets the game boot further, more information on how to get it to boot even further lateron.
#11:07 pm Coldbird> So guys - give ************ a bookmark. All my news are exclusively available here.
#11:10 pm Coldbird> Another find - OPNSSMP.BIN isnt loaded before EBOOT.BIN.
#11:11 pm Coldbird> It gets loaded inside EBOOT.BIN via device controls...
#11:11 pm Coldbird> Namely Sectornumber and Length of Buffer...
#11:11 pm Coldbird> Thats why one cannot find the name "OPNSSMP.BIN" inside EBOOT.BIN

Bookmarked? Hell yes

No one is telling you to read nor is anyone making you care about the game, some people do and that's why they are hoping for it to work. >.>

I have nothing against people wanting Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep to work, it looks like an interesting game. However, ComplicatioN, don't you find the ratio of useless:useful posts a bit *unnecessarily* high? Most posts just seem so happy-go-lucky-rainbow-much. It's hard to ignore curiosity as well when a thread such as this gets consistently bumped.

Hey dirt_harry, could you please PM me the link to this page =]
Would be nice!

Ditto for me if possible... I like watching these guys figuring things out, even if I only barely understand what they're doing.

This thread seems to have strayed somewhat from KH BBS updates to general "Will we ever run 6.20 games?"

(Otherwise give clues =p)

Ok I will shoot out some PM's for you guys...

As to bumping with 'useless information', I wont bump this thread anymore. I will however, end with an update. I was under the impression that people would care about ANY information, no matter how faint it is.

What will giving up hope do? Nothing. What does hoping do? Nothing. I just choose to hope. And I think some sort of fix will come for these games, sooner or later. I also don't care about KH:BBS in particular.

On to the Update. God eater is now booting and playing, but crashing a short while after. Coldbird is working on God Eater right now. No, the game doesn't block access to the memory card. It's a new type of encryption that is specific to the game, so it is a LOT harder to hack and get them working.

No guarantees obviously, but NOTHING is impossible. Name a single game that hasn't been hacked. Look at the PC scene, do you really think if there was an 'uncrackable' method, the anti piracy advocate EA would have found a way yet? Nope, it all depends on the competency and skill of the scene group releasing them. Anything that can be made can be unmade. It just depends on whether a skilled enough person or people try, and how long they do it. These guys who work on this kind of stuff need support, whether it be monetary or psychological. I am here spreading the news, well I was.

I have nothing more to say on the matter. PM me for the news forum, those who are interested.
