my lap dog leaves so much hair behind,my keyboard doesnt work anymore....i can only communicate through this shitty virtual kbhow can i fix it????? i need help asap since i wont be able to turn off the computer...thanks!

If your keyboard or mouses is preventing from shutting down the computer you can press the power off button once.
Unless It's a laptop which is usually configured to going into sleep mode (I don't know why since you can close the lid for dat)
The computer will shut down the same exact way as you would go to start/shutdown...

In case you really need to shut down, you can hold the power button for several seconds, keep in mind this second way will force shutdown, not recommended... Even if in today computers there is barely a change to corrupt stuff

i meant that,once i turned off the pc,i wouldn't be able to log in again since i need a password.

but how much do they affect your usage? I would image that it would piss off certain mechanical keyboard users.

Afraid that falls under "try it and see". On most of the ones I have tried I would not type a novel or anything more than about 4 pages and certainly would not care to play any reaction based games using one. For hospital use though that is fine, and that would cover a lot of day to day use for most people on a computer.

I should also say you can buy washable keyboards, I tend to install things like these in kitchens and some industrial type places where fun solvents get used and tend to degrade those flexible covers far faster than is ideal.

On "some mechanical keyboard users" then I am going to assume they are the keyboard equivalents of those that spend hundreds on cables for their hifi despite everything from basic physics on down saying it makes no difference.

More or less, a lot of them will spend $100 dollars plus to get the name brand Cherry switches that they like and swear they make a difference. However, I would add that in my case that a mechanical key make a difference but not that much to be honest except for features and materials used. But heck, I do not get people who spend hundreds on headphones (although I have a $250 pair of Bose Bluetooth headphones.
