So a few years ago my father told me about a diet in which you eat a shit ton of fat, veggies, eggs and cheese and cut all of the sugar, wheat, chemicals and other large carbohydrate sources out. It forces your body to start processing fat for energy instead of carbs. This is called the "keto" state. Imagine your body using any fat you have for energy! Well, I heard about it a few more times in the past couple of years, but then recently I watched a documentary on Amazon Instant Video about the diet and figured I'd give it a go. It's my first time ever dieting so I hope I can do it! To help I got rid off all of the food not in the picture below and bought all of the food in the picture. It doesn't seem like much, but with some tubs of lard, lots of butter, cream and stuff you can really come up with a lot of interesting recipes. Here is a good website dedicated to the thing.

So what do you all think about this diet? Have you heard of it? Have you tried it?

No idea, but if the ingredients are like in the picture it looks healthy, tasty, and like a lot of work regarding preparation.

Yeah, there is a lot of cooking involved. Tonight I made my own Pesto for a Chicken Casserole. The good thing is you use a LOT OF FAT so everything tastes really good. I'm on my 3rd day. I read it takes a week or two for your body to stop processing carbs and during this process as your body begins to process fat for energy it starts to process a lot of toxins out of your system and it may make me feel like shit during this time. My Dad told me all he got was a headache for about a week.

I never cut out all carbs, but I stopped eating added sugars altogether... and that alone I can say gave me headaches for two weeks, and then they never came back.

Well, I don't cut out all carbs. I just cut out most carbs. Instead of hundreds per day from all sorts of shit I eat around 20-50, lower being better.

If you think it's worth a shot then go for it. I strongly advise you to keep an open mind and monitor your health while you go; there is evidence to suggest that this is not a great idea.

Eating ONLY meat?
That's not a good idea, but I think that's not what he is speaking about.

Talking about eating ONLY meat (and beef at that), that was mostly the daily life of your average Argentine, back when I lived there. I can't say they have the best health, no, not at all, and since I stopped eating ONLY meat, I feel better TBH.

Meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, milk products, nuts, fruit is what I'm eating. All natural.

Its easy to look at the video's title and dismiss it without watching it. I linked it because it goes on to explain why you should consume some carbohydrates. As I said before go on this diet if you want, just be careful and monitor your health for any negative side effects.

Use words, videos are quite hard to watch if you are "working" at the office....

i am consuming carbs, but only a little bit. Since the body can't get many carbs for energy it starts using fat.

I did this diet last year. I lost 28 pounds in a month. I consumed less than 10g of carbs a day. Just try not to fail this diet many times because the more you fail it the tougher it becomes to get back to doing it.

The Atkins diet got rebranded again did it?

"chemicals"
Hah. Always amuses me the failure of either logic or language there.

Unnatural substances?

Great! I'm glad to hear it worked for you. I hope it does for me too.
