So is the SNES pad, and Xbox 360 controller.
I think what he's getting at is that you don't really have to memorize the button placement or where your fingers are at all... Especially if you're someone who plays both XBox and Nintendo systems (me, probably you, and a bunch of other people), it gets confusing at times and (especially when playing XBox) I get my X and Y mixed up all the time.

For the Gamecube, it's nearly impossible to get mixed up... You have a large "main" button in the middle (A), you have a smaller secondary button towards the bottom (B), and two additional buttons (X and Y) of different shape and angle at the top and right of the "main" button. Plus, unlike the SNES/XBox layout, you don't have to worry about stretching to reach a button on the opposite side of the "cross" layout, because all the buttons are snugly fit around the A button.

Idk, that's just how it feels to me. I know it doesn't feel that way for everyone.

THANK YOU! Somebody gets it! :D

Keep the GameCube alive? P-please, it has been for some years and it passed out, Nintendo said that they didn't have backwards compatibility for GameCube games
"Wii U will not be compatible with Nintendo GameCube" (Taken from Wikipedia)
... I'm sorry, I didn't really had a GameCube in my childhood, I had a PC and my favourite game, Doom, plus, I like the GC, played it on Dolphin, it kinda sucked emulating, my PC sucks and you don't get that feel though, but, anyways, all I want is just a GC controller and a GC game to play on my Wii, at least Luigi's Mansion, or Resident Evil 4(heh, it kinda sucks for PC) or... you know, the good games, bottom line, GC rocks, even if I didn't had one.
And, I'M LYING, I'M STILL A KID, but, you will be impressed by my English and typing skills, i'm an adult, i'm definitely an adult, i'm 11 years old.
BACK TO THE IMPORTANT STUFF

So, why keep GC alive, it died, it came the Wii, and the GC is a loss now :( I wish I had a GC, I wanna go back in time and play the classic stuff.

...
Each day it looks like our GameCube controllers are becoming more and more obsolete. so I'm proposing three concepts that hopefully we can shop around to any contacts we may have and get something going.
...
I can't really say I find an issue with that. I never really liked the GameCube controller design. Heck, none of my controllers work anymore.

Maybe it's just time for it to go?

Why does everyone want the Gamecube to stay alive so badly now?
When it was an active system, no one care about it. Now that the WiiU is coming out and most likely won't be playing GC games, everyone is all up in arms about that.

I have the best way around this, don't sell you Wii or GC when the WiiU comes out, problem solved.

Quite simply, a bunch of us (myself included) were hoping that, with the dawn of disc-based consoles, we would no longer have to keep a stack of old consoles. And yet, Nintendo is dropping compatibility even when their console uses the same storage medium, and has already proven to us that they don't give 2 craps about virtual console: We have a lot of great NES and SNES titles most of which have already ben re-released multiple times on other platforms, and literally only 21 N64 titles (at least in USA). And of those 21 titles, 2 of them are just digital releases of gamecube ports (Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the latter of which has the same compatibility issues of the Gamecube version despite the Wii's greater power), and a bunch of them are the kind of games that have already been superceded by "successors" on Wii-compatible media: games like the 3 Mario Parties, Mario Tennis, F-Zero X Super Smash Bros 64, and so on. Just based on that list there (which was off the top of my head), 8 out of 21 N64 VC titles were either unnecessary or made obsolete (except for reasons of nostalgia). Heck, the only games I can think of off the top of my head that were truly great and necessary on there were Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, Star Fox 64, and Sin & Punishment. All that said, even if Nintendo does GCN VC on the Wii U, I don't have high hopes for it being anywhere near as expansive as it should be.

Maybe someone suggested this already but, depending on the size of the logic in the Pro Controller, you could just gut one, stick it in a GameCube controller, add some extra holes for missing buttons and, voila, GameCube U controller.

Hey, you know how this can be solved? BUY A FREAKING GAMECUBE!

Even if you DON'T have a Gamecube, they're like $50 freaking bucks! Why would Nintendo waste time making the Wii U GCN compatible if you can buy Super Mario Galaxy and a new Gamecube with less than $110 bucks?

Pretty sure Gamecubes are actually like $20.

Hell I'll give my fucking Gamecube to someone if you want it that bad. Or just keep your goddamn Wii around.

I don't even see why you want the Gamecube around any more, it's been oh-so-many years, how many times would you want to play the same set of games anyway?

The Wii and GC barely takes up any room, would it be that big of a problem keeping them around?
You know all systems are bound to update and drop full support for their older systems right? I mean sooner or later Nintendo will have a system that won't work with Wii games, are you going to bitch then?
There is no point keeping outdated software/hardware tacked onto their system just to please the few fans who don't feel like keeping an extra council on the side.

But why? Yes I know I can keep my Wii or GCN (I have both), I get it. I just don't see why it would be so inconvenient for Nintendo to spend a small bit to add compatibility when they're already halfway there (there's already a freaking disc drive!). For those of you who DON'T remember, the GBA was compatible with 3 generations (depends whether you consider GB and GBC "different generations" though). It wasn't until they completely changed the storage medium in the DS that compatibility started to drop, and even then they kept partial compatibility for a little while.

You guys are being really hard-headed by the way. You keep suggesting "oh just get a gamecube you bitch, hurrhurr" when I made it clear that the reason this bothers me is BECAUSE I don't want my already huge stack of consoles to continue taking more and more space. I don't see why that's such a horrible thing to want, especially when it would be so easy to have in this case.

Having a disc drive doesn't mean it's halfway there. The PS3 has a disc drive and it can't play PS2 games, how about bitch at Sony about that? I bet the next Xbox won't play Xbox 1 games, why not bitch about thay? Nintendo doesn't need nor have to keep outdated councils alive just to please the few fans who don't have enough room to store a Wii.
Also no amount of complaining is going to bring the GC back. Just don't sell your Wii, I solved your problem.

A) Except that's false. Certain PS3s have PS2 compatibility, and all PS3 models have PS1 compatibility via emulation. Plus, you can purchase PS2 games as digital downloads (and there's a LOT of PS2 titles available as downloads, if I understand correctly).

B) I'm not a Sony fan and don't own a PS3. So I'm not going to be personally worried about it. But if I was, and they WERE dropping compatibility like that with no practical options BESIDES to keep extra hulking PS brutes (remember, PS2 and PS3 are a bit bigger than the GCN or Wii), you can bet I would be even more irritated.

C) Though you're probably right about the next Xbox, there's still no conclusive evidence for that, so saying "I bet it'll be this way for X or Y console too, so you need to deal with it," doesn't really work.

D) Saying "keep your GCN/Wii, I just solved your problem," doesn't work at ALL when that doesn't provide a solution to the problem I have. I'm saying, "My problem is that I I don't want to have to take up extra space with my GCN/Wii to play those games," and your response is "keep your GCN/Wii, I solved your problem," which literally makes no sense at all. You want to disagree with me and voice why? Fine, I have no problem with that. But don't be so arrogant as to think you can present with me a non-solution and call it a solution.

The Wii is no bigger than a school textbook (it might even be a hell of a lot smaller in most cases.) You can put it anywhere and it would take up little to no room at all. Your argument is that you don't want to give up the extra space for it, but what extra space are you losing? The small crack between your TV and the wall?
