Looks pretty sweet, but for the same functionality I'd rather get a Dingoo or just stick with my PSP.

I wouldn't mind if the form factor is more similar to a Micro though. Then again, I have puny Asian hands so this point is pretty much invalid here.

I've currently entered their competition, the first part was the naming of the system which is now over, so if I don't win there I will try part 2 of the comp which is the design of the logo, I do hope I win though lol :D 60$ isn't much so I'll probably just buy one if I don't score one in this comp!

I owned a Dingoo A320 before, and I can say gba emulation for it is good, but not perfect. Some good games like MMBN series require framerate 1-2 for the gameplay to not slow down most of the time. The EZ-Flash IV is perfect for gba, but the long loading times kinda bothers me, since I'm an impatient person. Seeing the video for this K101 of how it can load a video game instantly and automatically write the save file (nvm I though it could save by itself w/o the need of turning it off then on whilst pushing a button combination), it makes me want it more!! :hateit:

Gah, just read even more about it. Come on, using a 4:3 screen for the GBA wasn't enough, now they have to go 2:1? What is with them? At least this time it's an even multiple with black bars.

As for the K-Card and save files, I hope they change it so that saves are automatically written to the mSD card when you save in-game. I could see myself forgetting to use the brightness shortcut A LOT.

I just thought of something. Don't the K1 GBA devices contain the original GBA BIOS, and would therefore technically be illegal to produce? Nintendo could possibly prosecute them if they think it's worth the effort.

I wish the CPU was faster to make emulation capabilities more comparable to the Dingoo. If it could run SNES games, it would be great. It's still pretty good at this price, over here it's hard to even get a used GBA SP at that price, and GBA flashcarts are getting hard to find as well. Plus the fact that it supports multiboot so it's possible to use it to play Zelda Four Swords Adventures makes me kind of want one, even though I have plenty of devices that can emulate GBA well.

So the answer to the topic description is yes, it's definitely worth buying if you're a fan of retro games like me and you don't already have several handhelds that can emulate GBA games.
it all depends on maxzhou88 if he wants to add snes emulation
SNES emulation with the current hardware specs is not feasible. They may get certain games to run fullspeed using speedhacks like SnemulDS, but speedhacks cause glitches in a lot of games.
With a faster CPU though, it would be great. A SDK for homebrew development would be great too.

How much is this going to cost after pre-order?

what i can tell you is that the current price is lower than the actual retail price. the lower price was the first thing mentioned to me by k1gba before i suggested the bundle idea. i do not know what they are going to charge for the device after the pre-sale but based on the k1 gba sp cost i would assume 69.99. keep in mind that the k101 at full retail will not include the carrying pouch, earbuds, msd card, and msd reader.

So, does this thing play GB and GBC games natively or will it require an emulator? Also, anyone know if this thing will play Mother 3? I had an SP with an EZ Flash IV, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in my house.
K101 is hardware clone GBA SP. So you do not need to install any emulator like you did on Dingoo Aa320 or other retro handhelds. It plays GB and GBC games natively like you play on original one. The different is that you need to download the games to the TF card. Then plug the TF to K-card. I think you can take K-card like a super flash card. It is so easy to play games with this device. The most importance is that it have a high compatibility on GBA games.

This bundle sale is only for people who place pre-order for K101. After pre-order, this bundle sales will end. And the cost price for K101 will be between $59.99 to $65.99.

Based on what we've previously been told, the GB and GBC hardware has been removed because of space concerns. So, you have to resort to emulators to play those games, albeit built-in ones.
But hey, you're the insider.

Does anyone know the legality of carrying this in a US store? The fact that is has pre-loaded games concerns me.

The pre-loaded games are the homebrew bundle Another World submitted, so that's not a problem.

However, the fact that the device violates Nintendo trademarks (and probably patents) is a red-flag for most stores, so it's gonna be a little more hard to find than a flashcart.

In the vid, the guy pops the GBA carts in and out without turning it off. Did they make the GBA slot "hot-swappable?" Dude, that's a good idea.

Well I represent realthotstuff.com, and Another World suggested carrying this console. It sounds like it would be too risky to carry on our site in the US.

i can sell a m3 lite with 32 mb ram but i don't have the gba shell
Really, not the place for this.

If you carry flashcarts on that site, the K1(01) GBA should be fine. The flashcarts come loaded with copyrighted code, so...

I do not think selling this device will be a problem in US store. Indeed, this is a Chinese retro handheld like Dingoo A320.

If possible, we will not install any games in this device. Like Another Word said, we will only install those games he found for us.

Feel free to get back to me if you need any help.

Can you PM me your email so we possibly discuss carrying your product? I still have to clear this with management but I would like to learn more.

EDIT: nevermind. I just saw your PM.

Cool! BTW, since it has a real time clock, I guess no more patching Pokemon games, eh? But, it still won't connect to the Gamecube with the K-Card I assume(for Pokemon XD and Pokemon Colosseum)
