Hacking Just got my DSTT

Hello everyone! I just got my package from dx and it appears that my dstt is real. I've read the faq, but now i have more questions for you guys. To get started, I need the firmware, and the latest one is 1.17. There is another one without the fake killer, but I'm interested in how the user removed the fake killer? Did he get an older version without the fake killer and add the changes to it, or did he mod 1.17 with fake killer and remove it? Are there any negatives to using the one without the fake killer? I'm just curious. Also, it appears there are some modified files that are better than the stock ones that come from the dstt firmware. So I download http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=4476 (the 1.17 firmware) and http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=4477 and replace ttmenu.dat from the first download with the one from the second download? Which cheat file do you guys think is best? I always rename it to USRCHEAT.DAT correct? http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=5201 or http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=5177 or http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=4832 or something else I didnt' post? I'm really not sure as to what is the best cheat file. I should replace the infolib.dat and the savlib.dat with http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=141993 or http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=144076? I also heard that the automatic dldi patching wasn't that great, so people would use http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=142847 , but that file is not in the default firmware. Do i just drop it in?

The 1.17 without fake-killer has the fake-killer code disabled. The person who did this almost certainly started with the official 1.17 and found out where it called the fake-killer code and instead had it bypass that code. There are no negatives to using the fake-killer disabled version -- in fact it should run slightly faster since it doesn't have to check for a fake.

Yes, you download the official 1.17 and replace TTMENU.DAT with the one from the archive you linked to above.

The most recent cheat file can always be found at cheats.gbatemp.net. Different flash carts use different cheat file formats. For the DSTT, you'll want the USRCHEAT.DAT one. No need to rename it -- if you grabbed the right archive, it should contain the USRCHEAT.DAT file with the proper name.

I would replace infolib.dat and savlib.dat with one of the unofficial ones. The infolib.dat file will speed up loading of ROMs and the savlib.dat will allow your DSTT to work with a handful of games that use 1MB save files.

I wouldn't bother with ttdldi.dat unless you simply have to run DSLinux or some other homebrew that won't currently run. If you do want to use it, you have to place the file in the root of your microSD card (where TTMENU.DAT is located -- NOT in the TTMENU folder).

So will this make Grand Theft Auto work with my DSTT? (I'll try it now)

EDIT: The savlib.dat and infolib.dat did not work for GTA (I got the same result... black screen when I tried to save) but when I used the USRCHEAT.DAT at cheats.gbatemp.org and turned on the "fix game cheat" it worked! *yay*
