hi i want to know if is possible restore a .sav file to the cia game ( i have the sav from the flashcard that is in a .sav format and wanted to restore it in the cia game ) thanks

Think you can just export the file off the flashcard, and import onto the 3ds, by finding the correct game, worse case you can try checkpoint.

Think what you can do is initialize the cia format of the game, make a save, then backup it with jksm, replace it with your other save for the file inside the SD card where JKSM backup the save and import that onto the game, if it doesn't work I have no idea.

seems checkpoint and jksv cannot read .sav files any way to convert a sav to a bin file so checkpoint and jksv can read it

you need to use jksm on the game to get a decrypted save file. .sav is a exnrypted save and wont be readable by jksm or checkpoint.

i have the cart but don't know how decrypt , should get back game in .3ds format ?
you are going to want said game as .3ds and you will want jksm save manager as a .3ds aswell. You will put the game and save on the stargate. Run the system in stargate mode. select jksm. then choose the game title from that menu. it will ask to export save and also ext data. select both. if ext data has nothing then thats no worry for you. Once you get that exported save file. You will want to run the .cia game file to create a save you will overwrite. Once thats done. Load the .cia jksm. select the game title from that menu and select import save data. You will select the save file from the folder you made earlier and it will write the save info. Load up the game at that point and just check the save file was successful.

AFAIK Stargate can't run .3ds homebrew, because it's not a CFW.

Pretty much yeah. Just make sure the .sav is in the right location for it to be recognized.
I recommend Checkpoint instead though.

With the tools and keys we have available to us now I'm surprised no one has figured out a way to decrypt & extract these saves on a PC if the right header or ROM file is provided (or none needed if the game was using a blank 0-key header), we can easily decrypt & extract SD contents and doing the same with an encrypted .sav shouldn't be that much different.

hi, i would know how to decrypt a 0000001.sav file. I have one with my old save but if I try to replace it the game says: impossible to read save files. The game i wanto to restore is Yo kai watch 3.

You should have created your own thread instead of bringing up an old topic.
Anyway: Overall there is more information needed. Some questions:
  • Are you trying to restore a backup from the same console or another console?
    • If another console: That won't work by pasting the encrypted file. Just garbage data to any other console than the original. (There might be a way to decrypt the file depending on what you have from the previous unit)
    • If the same console: Was "Format System Memory" ("Formattazione") used after this file was backed up? Restoring after formatting is considerably harder.
  • Do you have custom firmware on your console?
In addition to that: The Yo-Kai Watch 2 games are using the Anti Savegame Restore anti-feature. Chances are that this is also true for the third part (First Yo-Kai Watch did not use it). Simply pasting an older backup (even from the same console not having used "Format System Memory") will make the game shred its save with some stupid error message.
