    Hi!

Are there any good 2D Shooter or Sidescroll Beat'em ups from Japan for the DS? Something like Parodius, Strikers 1945plus, Final Fight etc.
For PS2 you can get the Simples Series with some nice old skool Games, so is that for the DS in Japan too?

Ketsui Death Label (J) is a vertical scroller SEU (shoot em up).
There is also Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits which has a version of Gradius/Nemisis and a few other SEU's.

I'm a massive fan of the Gradius/Parodius series and really enjoyed Nanostray 2, definitely recommended.

The closest thing to a side-scrolling beat'em-up is Tokyo Beat Down.

Yeah, and Tokyo Beat Down is not very good, in my opinion. The controls kill it. Things are much less responsive than I like in a brawler.

If you like the old school games, you can try Retro Game Challenge as that has a couple of shmups.

New Super Mario Brothers is laughable in terms of difficultly, compared to Henry Hatsworth in a puzzling adventure.
