if i recall correctly during wwII people called japanese jap (not as a short form, but rather as an insult?) and now it still holds water? so yeah.

close. they acctually called them nips short for nippon which is the japanese word for japan. but calling someone jap is the same thing. that why i always write JPN for when i abbreviate japan.
They did call them Japs during WWII (as well as Nips). Any documentary you watch on Japanese internment during WWII will show newspapers with the headline "Japs Go Home!"

I, too, use JPN or JP to abbreviate it. Hell, jp is shorter than jap.

ON TOPIC: BoGG, did you try Arino no Chousenjou and its sequel?

Racism is arbitrary, words mean what the people who say them want them to mean, but way to derail the thread, guys.

Just correct him and explain. And then move on to the topic. It's not like some other deragatory terms where it's 100 percent obvious. Some people think its short for JAPANESE. Like Oriental. Do you know it's considered deragatory by some to be called Oriental, because it describes objects to them, not people. I was told, don't do it, move on.

just saying RACIST is so silly and counterproductive.

as far as japanese only games, its hard cause so much get released here now. Kaijuu Battles is fun, i also like the Big Headed baseball games (the name escapes me). The Chou Chou Mecha game is fun too, sometimes you just need some trial and error. Soma Bringer has a ridiculously good translation that allows you to play if you download it and that game rocks all.

Goddamn people, can you not deal with a troll?

Anyway, one of my all time favs to this day is Rhythm Tengoku Gold. Still play it in Jap, just cuz the English lyrics are waaaaaaay too girly for me.

THIS.

And I know that Rittai Picross is coming Stateside but I kept the [J] ROM in my r4 for quite a long time. One of my faves, too. I think they'll end up editing a bunch of puzzles seeing as some of them are Japanese themed...

sooo, does everyone even noticed that they're OOT ?

I recommend :
Summon Night X - Tears Crown
any SRW series

You're accusing me of being a troll? GTFO, buddy. I only post on these forums when I have something to say that I feel contributes to GBATemp in a positive way. Anyway, if you don't believe the term to be racist, why did you all automatically assume I was referring to the word "Jap"? If you reread my original reply, I made no mention of it, yet you all immediately knew what I was referring to. Save the coy bullshit for an argument you can defend.

Coz its the only word in the original post that relates to nationality you imbecile. It doesn't take a genius to work out what you are referring to.

Why do Americans automatically assume due to their own history of racism that the same applies all over the world. Other countries didn't use the word "jap"
in a derogatory manner, hence the word is not offensive in their country.

There's no need to cry "racism" when you encounter a word which may be offensive, it was pretty clear the OP wasn't out to insult people. Your welcome to inform him it has negative connotations in America, but "racist much?" is hardly a positive contribution to this thread.

i agree with keffola. It was the only word that could have influenced your comment. You could have simply chosen to justify your comment in the post that you posted it in but you chose not to and opened up an argument in a perfectly fine thread.

Spot on...

Just because it may be an insulting term in America, does not mean it is universally an insulting term...

Imperialist much?

In many countries, Jap is only the first three letters of Japan --

Likewise, I could start using JPN or J as an insulting term -- by using it is a derogatory manner -- but this does not mean anything beyond the context...

Ketsui Death Label is quite playable, it's a SHMUP (but yeah beware, SHMUP might be a racist term too). Anyway OP, ignore the retard and check out that game.

good to get the thread going again.

Rittai Picross

It is basically 3D Picross and as long as you have played Picross then it is easy to play without japanese knowledge

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan

If you can play EBA, you can play this.

You derailed a thread with something that was completely unrealated to the topic at hand, you posted it for nothing more than self-satisfaction.

You're a troll, stfu.

I agree with VatoLoco: Daigasso! Band Brothers DX
Also, the sequel to Taiko no tatsujin DS Touch de dokodon if you haven't played it,
Meccha Taiko no Tatsujin DS: 7-tsu no shima no Daibouken.

I have a friend who also likes ASH - Archaic Sealed Heat, but I haven't really played it. Plus you probably won't get the story too well since it's in japanese, so I don't know about that one.
