It all works fine until I add extra sound effects. As you can see in the video, the first theme I install works perfectly fine. On that one, I only have a sound effect for launching an application and a sound effect for opening the 3DS. However, when I add more sound effects to the theme, such as creating a folder or closing an application, the home menu simply refuses to load and crashes the 3DS. From then on it crashes every time I boot the 3DS, so I have to delete my home menu data. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

Does it work if you build the theme without any custom sfx?

Yeah, it loads just fine.

Make sure you are using Usagi 3DS Theme Editor to build your themes.

And switch to Anemone3DS, its a much better replacement for themely, especially since the theme site that themely uses is now dead.

Install it with anemone3DS and then try and see what happens.
I've been using Usagi.
I already have Anemone3DS, but it refused to load the theme. At all. Didn't crash the system or anything, just didn't load it.

Are the sound effects too big for the theme? Have you tried using different audio files and seeing if the problem is with the sound effect files that you are putting in? Try ripping some sound effects from some other themes, exporting it to mp3 and compare the source file to the one you are trying to use. Comparing the file to one that you know works might show some differences and from there you can figure out how to fix it.

@BigOnYa AutoRCM here too with hekate as reboot to payload. Only time I need to push a payload is going from sysMMC back to emuMMC. But its just plug it into my phone and a second later I'm all set. I have all of my games with online features on sysMMC. Like Mario Kart, Mario Party games, etc.

i think you just need to turn framebuffer emulation off in rice video and it fixes the slowdown

An app exists for Android called Rekado which is a payload injector for the RCM exploit to work. Don't know if it's still active.

@imafsiry, What method? Phone or RCM Loader?
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
@imafsiry You just install Rekado to your phone and then plug your Switch into your phone when it's in RCM mode. Rekado should automatically pop up on your phone and ask which payload you want to send.

@imafsiry You can also set it to auto launch the payload of your choice so no user input is even necessary.

thats what i use also. works better if you launch hekate from rekado as you won't need to update the payload

as hekate launches the latest payload on the sd card (unless the sent payload is newer)
