Hacking Is worth to keep 5.55 or just update?

I just got a PS4 and I have read about 28th December like the Holy Grial or something, is it worth to keep 5.55 or can I update to latest firmware?

Wait and see what happens after the 28th, then decide or ask again.

It's pointless to update at the moment when no-one knows exactly what is going to be released or when, or if anything will be released at all.

As a rule, always try and stay on the lowest unexploitable firmware version possible.

Also, there is nothing wrong with being prepared.
You could always download a copy of the the 6.02 and 6.20 update pups now. Just in case something IS released in the near future.

Yes if you wanted to access the PSstore (or anything on PSN) you would need to update.

In the end the descision is yours. I personally would wait a little longer and see if anything does get released by the end of the year.

As a rule of thumb: do not update. But specially in ps4: never update before the yearly c3 conference.

unless you have finished all the games you have played, I don't see the reason to stay. I bought my ps4 in 2016 only to play persona 5, bought a couple of games afterward and even forced myself to 5.05 just to get Dishonored 2 NG+ updates. I remember during that time, I didn't see any reasons to update, patiently waiting to finish all the old games, and suddenly 5.05 hack was released. in the end, we want to use our ps4 to play the games we want to play.

I am still torn whether I should update my ps4 or buy a brand new one to play the latest games. a new or a used ps4 is still much cheaper than the latest gaming laptop.

If you really want an up to date ps4 buy another one, there should be some deals for boxing day. Or you can just update and forget about hacks.

Yeah, apply update blocker and use AlAzif dns.

I'm on 5.55 too, so i'll wait till the end of the year to see what's there and update if needed.

There are numerous WebKit entry points (note: not exploits) that work on 6.20.

The “method” was confirmed working on 6.20 too.

Maybe it's like the method used with Wii U? They download install files from e-shop and they grab title key from the actual game disc!! very simple yet very genius!!
