They're greedy for giving you money for finding bugs for PSN and PS4? I would more get angry at people submitting bugs to the program, not the program itself.

Yeah but they are blackmailing the hackers to get what they want. If they wants to find it then they should hire their own people instead of blackmail someone else. Just saying. ^_^:creep:

How exactly are they blackmailing anyone?
Do you understand what blackmail is?

I think the word you were looking for is "rewarding"

Why on earth would you be angry? We literally only got the recent ps4 exploit because sony paid for it.

It's a fair trade. Plus, Sony allows hackers to publicly disclose their findings after some time, so everyone wins.
No one said anything about not getting banned.

I wouldn't consider it blackmailing when hackers could decide to not submit to the program, and if they're the ones who found a exploit then it should be their decision to submit it or not (unless I'm missing something, in which case my bad). Also this doesn't just include homebrew and running backups, this includes things like security flaws for accounts and such. Many companies do this sort of bug-bounty thing including Nintendo, and the only people that are being called greedy are people who submit to the program.

TheFl0W got the short end of the stick since he was paid 10K and Sony was offering a maximum of 50K.

It's not blackmail at all - of course they have a choice whether they submit it or not! No one's threatening them with anyone if they don't, so it's not blackmail. It's bribery.

They have a sliding scale based on what can be done with it. I would guess for the top money you'd need to be able to steal credit card numbers off the sony servers.

In that respect 10K sounds like a good deal.

I agree. It's unlikely that hackers going for a bounty will use their main PSN account, if they even have a PSN account. So there is no reason for Sony to change anything. It certainly won't be a get out of jail free card for people who merely install hacks that they got off the internet.

Would my PSN get banned if I hacked my PS4 for the "Bug Bounty Program"?

Unless you know how to find new exploits in the PS4 software or Sony Servers yourself nothing you do will be relevant to the Bug Bounty Program. They already know about the ones you can just google for and use to hack your PS4. They certainly wont let you use well known hacks and use the program as an excuse.
