Gaming Is this PSP hackable?

Since I didn't find a sticky or similar thread to ask my question in I'll ask here

So its a PSP 2000 Slim with Date Code 8B and Serial number HC2909XXX and the box sticker says G.. I've been googline quite a lot and some sources say it would be hackable and some say that past HC27XXXXX it's tough luck.

I've also been looking into some ways of getting the cfw on it incase I'd buy it. chickHEN seems to be the best and easiest way to do so but if its above ofw 5 i take it requires a pandora battery, is that correct?

You need to check the motherboard if I recall correctly. Go here and look under "How to tell what motherboard you have, 200X only!" Follow that guide and you'll see if it's hackable or not.

The 2000 Series Date Codes go as follows:
7C: Hackable.
7D: Hackable.
7(Any later Letter): Hackable.

8A: Hackable.
8B: Hackable.
8C: Has Very High Chance that it is Unhackable.
8D: Unhackable.

It's definitely able to use ChickHEN, but it may not be permanently hackable.
Take the risk and get it - worst case scenario you just run ChickHEN each time you power it off and on.

hmm thats what I found aswell, so I shouldn't really worry should I?

Well I guess I'll buy it and check the mobo with PSPident and hope for good luck.. else it goes on eBay

Is 67$ a reasonable price for a boxed psp 2000 in mint condition?

Hey again, right so i have the psp now and its 6.31 can i somehow run the PSPident or do i have to get a battery first?

You need the battery. We/you already know it's hackable

As they said, get a Pandora, and find a guide to update it to 5.50 GEND3.
