Homebrew Is there any current way to play Wii games using gamepad controls?

yes. with teconmoon´s wii vc injector. youll need wup installer, a wbfs or iso copy of the game you want to play and make sure it is compatible with classic controller otherwise it wont work. also you'll need an hdd exclusiveley for the wii u

if u use wii vc injection and the option classic controller emulation the wii u gamepad will emulate the classic controller so all the games in that list should work(i tried a few and it worked for me)

this one is the compatibility list with games tested with Teconmoon's injector, and whether the Wiiu Gamepad works or not.
it might even be helpful in case a specific "host" (channel you use to inject your game into) is required.

if you don't mess, you don't need them.
never replace or reinstall a IOS using a WAD !
only use d2x installer and you'll never mess your setup, it can only overwrite slots >200


what do you mean you "forgot" to backup the vWii IOS?
if you forgot, it means you already did the hacking steps and the vWii is already homebrew enabled.
just launch BlueDumpMod now and backup your IOS. there's no need to have WiiU side homebrewed, everything is done on vWii side.

unless you didn't really forget, you skipped the security steps and now you messed your vWii and need the files to fix it?
Based on how bad you messed your console, you might need to fix it on WiiU mode homebrew, but not necessarily. maybe you can fix from vWii mode, maybe you don't need all the vWii IOS either, only one.
if you messed your vWii, you'll have to be more specific on what you did, what happens, what you see, etc.

are you in cfw?also use the same region as your wii u (had some issues with that) download(use the techmoon repo)a compatible image/icon,build and install

I think you mean external. External drives are portable and connect through cables.

It’s been at NFS conversion for quite a while and I’ve tried multiple times so I’m not sure

Any USB, HDD or flash drive, should work. Just let the Wii U format it when you plug it in (you won't be able to use it with anything else), then you can install the games to it. I'm currently using a 128GB Sandisk 3.0 low-profile flash drive.

actually, my vWii isn't messed up, i just cant remember if i saved the original IOS before installing cIOS. what is the name of the original IOS?

IOS don't have any different names whether they are original or not. the original is a file located on the console, not a wad.
the console expect a filename, the patched IOS must have that same filename to be seen by the console, so you can't use that info to differentiate them.

they are files (usually named like that 0000001.app) into a folder named with a number (the slot number), inside the title folder.
/title/00000001/<folder number in hex is IOS slot #>/IOS filename is here and usually 0000001.app

if you talk abou tthe generated WAD file when dumping the IOS using bluedumpMOD, like I said the wad will have the same filename too whether it's official or messed up. something like : IOS57 v xxxx.wad
