There's a player that plays .jpgv and .pngv videos (idk what it's called though).
You'll need to convert your video(s) to one of those formats though.

There is also a popular player called "movie viewer" (.cia) that plays moflex movie files for regular and steroscopic 3D films.
I attached that version below.
Media players seems like never took off for the 3DS for various reasons. So you stuck with only a few, but decent options, that I believe all need their own format somehow.
You can also still watch YouTube via (on new3DS?!) browser. That's another option.

I use that popular file manager, it's built-in MP3 player works really well. (I forgot the name of it, sorry.)
