I've never owned a PSP before, and I'd like to buy one because many games on PSP interest me. So I'm wondering if it's too late, or worth it to buy one now, considering that NGP is coming out.

Also, which one to buy? 3000 or Go? I want one with better homebrew support.

Thanks.

If it homebrew you want get the 3000, but if you want a all new system get the ngp. It may take a long while for ngp homebrew.

3000 may be equal to the Go in terms in homebrew support, but quite honestly psp go has less features. :/

2000 and under still may have better support tho. :/

Either one you buy new (3000 or Go) will have the same amount of support assuming it's on 6.35 or less, which is a lot, but not all. If you're unlucky and get 6.37 (the current latest firmware) you'll have even less.

So yes, there's hacks for 6.35 and below, but it's preferable to try to get an older 3000 that originally came out of the box with firmware 5.03 or less, because then you can downgrade it (assuming it's on 6.35 or less) back to 5.03 and use the 5.x hacks, which have better homebrew support.

Looks like 3000 is my only option here. I'll make sure to check firmware version before I purchase it.

How long have PSP 3000 with 5.03 been out? If it's been a long time, then it'll probably be impossible for me to find one if I was to get an unused one. I'll probably have to stick with 6.35.

if you have 6.20 or 6.31/6.35 and make sure through pspident that its compatiable with 5.03 OFW you can downgrade the ofw to 5.03 depending on what ofw you have now 6.20,6.31 or 35 its a 1 or 2 step process if your on 6.3x you must first use davees downgrader to go to 6.20 then downgrade to 5.03 downgrading is risky could cause a brick if your not careful

You should buy a cheap second hand original and hackable Psp and save up to grab the new NGP. Come to think of it, I have a spare perfectly working hackable Psp and still have a white one that has the old mod chip in it lol. Maybe I should sell one of those huh.

I use the slim due to the much better screen nowadays.

I guess 6.20/6.35 is my best bet then. Because second-hand PSP-3000 are almost as expensive as a new one... I don't see it being viable much for me. Second-hand PSP-2000 are also available here, but it's even more expensive than a new PSP-3000(about twice the price), so that's out of option.

Kinda off-topic here, but is there any limited edition coming out soon?

What? There doesn't seem to be 2000 here(gamestop), but a place like gamestop doesn't work that way.

129.99 for a use 3000 and 99 for a used original. The 2000 should be between that. :/

Any limited-edition that's not out yet will most likely be on 6.37, severely hampering you.
I guess if I was to get a limited edition, I'll have to live with 6.37 then... Oh well.

I didn't change my country flag, but I live in Thailand, and video games' price are heavily inflated here.

I got my launch Wii for $560, if that says anything.

2000 are available, but very rare. They sell for around $350... downright expensive compared to 3000, which cost $170.
