Hacking Is it time to forget about blocking updates?

As the title says, there is no chance of a new firmware being released, is it time to forget about blocking eshop etc?

I only have updates blocked for 3DS and Wii U, eShop still works, I have no plans to remove the block as long as it doesn't interfere with normal usage

What makes you think there is no chance of an update?? The dsi was out of production for over 2 years then got an update so just because the wiiu is not in production is no indication an update won't appear in the future.

Yeah, plus they're still going to be supporting the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild with updates and DLC.
better to be safe than sorry.

I don't think it's likely though. There are no new notable games coming out for the Wii U and most game sales happen shortly after the game is released, so making any more attempts at blocking piracy at this point would likely cost them more money than the sales they are losing.

Not likely as you say but it's better to be safe than sorry in my opinion.

Nope.
Nintendo baits people into thinking that they dropped support when suddenly a new system version is out, bricking lots of Wii U's by overwriting system files...
