yes, that would be cool, but trimming roms isn't compressing in any way, shape or form. it is "trimming" off extra megs that were put on to make the file match a cartridge.

Remember - the more you fill up the card, the more fragmented the data on the card is (unless of course you fill it up with one go). hence _much_ slower load times and eventual hangs (because of the slower load time). Alhtough its solid state media it still takes some time to randomly seek on the card vs having everything next to each other. It's kinda bad we still use the ages-old FAT filesystem, when we could be using stuff like ReiserFS or

What I am trying to say is: wouldn't it be better if anything and everything could be compressed in some way, therefore conserving space on your R4. But now with the 4 GB SDHC MicroSD, that shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Ahh, you mean something like DScompress 1.2 Haven't tried it myself since i'm fine with trimmed roms on my 2GB uSD. I am happy that the R4 might get SDHC support but it ain't worth it to me until 8GB or larger becomes available (yes i could use that much space!!!)

I know. I was just explaining what you meant to a person who was spouting nonsense.

and by the way, I agree with you but I can't think of what there IS in a file that you can trim (other than roms) without making them function worse.

Some kind of compression (7zip, for example) would be great.. BUT the DS can't handle it. So that won't work.
