I think Nolan Bushnell said it best: "if you don't obsolete yourself, your competition will." We'll see if those words ring prophetic, in the case of the DS line, in the next 12-18 months. (It probably also applies to MS holding out until late 2013 for the successor to the 360.)

he says mario is for kids, and , as far as I know him, if he played it, he would say it sucks, even if he actually liked the game.

There are a whole bunch of people that think a game is for kids if it doesn't involve guns- the same people who will buy Littlebigplanet for their children and play it shamefacedly in the night.
In my humble opinion the 3DS is more than worth it- the battery life is not an issue really, I have a DSphat, DSlite and PSP1000 that all have worse battery life than my 3DS. If you need to upgrade your DS(insert model here) the 3DS is the way to go- the whole reason Nintendo make their consoles backwards compatible is so you can still buy games from the previous generation while developers are creating games for the new one (also, people who never got a DS in the first place may be tempted to pick up the new one if they get an interest in a DS game)

The second analog stick is not an issue- have any 3DS owners struggled to control a game yet? Even RE-Mercs (essentially a FPS) works brilliantly with just the one, to say it is a design flaw is like saying the PS3 was badly designed for not having PSmove at launch

Edit- in answer to that terrible memeface comic strip, change the date back a few years and swap out DS for Gameboy colour, 3DS for GameBoy Advance and second analog stick for backlight. Or DS for Gameboy, 3DS for Gameboy colour and second analog stick for a rechargable battery pack. None of those consoles survived their first year did they? What idiots Nintendo are.....

you might want to consider that new consoles are on the way and that 360 isn't going to last you very long. But if you don't have a gaming PC, then I guess by all means. I own three 360 consoles and I used to be huge into 360 although graphics wise it never panned out but now I'm moving on to PC because the 360 platform just doesn't deliver.

I'd like to have a more "powerful" console than the Wii, so I'd llike an Xbox 360. My PC can run some games, but not the "good graphics" ones. I prefer to play games on a gaming console because I don't like to update my computer specs all the time.

If you build a good computer build, you won't have to update for a good couple of years. My friend built his computer I think around 5 years ago and it still runs most games fine. Seems the only exception seems to be Battlefield 3 so far, but even then it can run it on lower settings. Still, most any recent game runs on high at full speed for him. If you find it expensive, you can save a lot of cash by just pirating a lot or using Steam sales. You'll hardly need to buy a single player game for the PC if you pirate, honestly.

Sold my XL recently to get money to upgrade. Now I got 265 bucks and that will go towards a 3DS and the remainder on a PSP system preferably but if anybody has any suggestions I am up for it. Also such as where to buy. I thought Wal Mart had a freebie case next to it when purchased but thats for its online store so yeah...
