idk i am on 9.2 and free shop won't let me download some games unless it is on 9.6 so is it okay to update though system settings becasue i don't want it to un hack my system

If you're on a9lh, yes. Otherwise no. Get an emuNAND with Luma or updated sysNAND with a9lh & Luma.
