I'm the type of student who can get A's on assignments and tests without a good work ethic or any studying (always exceptions. Plus, I'm terrible at writing essays). As cool as that would make anyone feel, I have to stop as soon as I can. A bad work ethic gives you hell in college. If you're going to take any AP's (not sure what they're called in Canada, but they're college classes), do all of your work given to you earlier than the night before it's due (unless it's obviously homework due the very next day). Try to have and create a good work ethic.

Get into the discussion of your classes, it'll help you to actually learn the material instead of memorize it as if you were a robot. Get involved in school to keep it fresh, because it get's incredibly boring sometimes.

Be social, but don't be stupid. Someone else already expanded on this, so I won't say anymore.

Ask questions! Always ask if you don't understand something!

EDIT: I'm a junior (third year) in high school. My classes (besides Woodshop) are challenging, but very doable.

aren't graphic calculators $100+?
and what are they used for anyway ?
Cheating on standardized test. Math only really, but you get the full usage in Geometry or Calculus classes, since most algebra is okay with a regular scientific calculator.
As for procrastination, it again depends on the person. I personally never really studied, nor did I write much down unless it had to be turned in. Plus, I waited until the day before a project is due, do it (and make it pretty awesome), get an A+, etc.

For a graphing calculator, I just used the TI-83+ emulator on my DS.

yeah , see that's the type of student i was in Grade 8 . i could do work easily the day before it was due, not put 100% to it and get an over 85% . im not trying to show off , but that was just my mind working . i've tried working early, but distractions could pull my mind away and just stop my from working .

seeing as halo reach, and blacks ops is coming out , it might be even harder to do work . i might even cut myself from xbox live connection just to concentrate on work better .

i've already met 10+ new people in highschool . it was pretty nice, talking to new people rather than the same people . i am not trying to replace em, i was just trying to meet new people which was nice .

and also, as for that graphing calculator, LOL . i can get one for as cheap as $40 ... but i am not so sure it can play games >_< . can anyone recommend which graphing calculator can have those "games" Malice was talking about ? could it be useful during Physics since i plan on taking it for Computer Engineering at Grade 11 .

EDIT: zomg free calculator on my DS ?! lols , i doubt the teacher would let me use it , so i will pass on that .
it'd be cool to use out of class , such as doing hmwk or finishing up some problem solving . if i showed it to the teacher, they would take it away, and be like, that's a gaming device .

WabbitDS?

Me too, part of the time. My Calculus teacher lent out the real thing though.

It's really not that difficult unless you simply refuse to do homework and study for tests, or if you are an extreme procrastinator. Semester exams (aka finals) aren't really that hard. It's just a summary of what you learned over the quarter/semester so if you've been paying attention, doing homework, and doing well on tests, you'll probably get a good grade as long as you study and review your material. This year's my last year of high school, and I can sincerely say that I definitely won't miss it. Probably because I feel trapped. In university I won't have my parents breathing down my neck 24/7. Good luck, you'll have fun, just make sure you don't be too shy and don't overload yourself with AP or advanced classes that you can barely handle; you'll hate your life.

me on the other hand make a procrastinator look like a hard worker and almost failed

I know what you mean, and I know how hard it is to stay focused. That's why you try to make it a habit. Lock yourself in a room (not literally) and work.

If i recall well, i was worried the same as you

basically unlike the earlier years of school, you gotta study slightly harder than you used to and pay attention in class

other than that no it isn't hard at all

best of luck.

I'ts not really that hard and I think collage is more harder than highschool..
No no no no working(job) is the hardest or even being a parent

nobody said collage is the hardest.

He just said it is harder than high school.

High school? Hard?

Its basically a giant preschool nowadays with our public schools. Teachers get tenure and stop teaching correctly.

*ahem* OP is from Canada.

EDIT: and yeah graphing calculators can be fairly expensive. But they have lots of useful functions >_> Like the ability to write down pain in the ass formulas, and notes.

any other useful DS homebrew for school ? seriously, don't give me past time games, i want actual things like that calculator homebrew xD.

has anyone taken Physics before in highschool? i was talking to my dad about Computer Engineering and he told me you have to take it in highschool >_> . then i've been told Physics is a pretty hard subject ...

I don't know if curriculum is same here in PH and there in Canada but yes, Physics is (somewhat) hard. Memorizing formulas is the easy part. Understanding word problems ==

Lol my Asian buddy had Physics, Chemistry, Calculus and some other class in Grade 12.
Of those 3, Physics was apparently the hardest by far.

I forget what Physics is actually about, but apparently if you have the right mind for it...it's super simple.
Kinda like Chem, how it's the hardest fucking class ever, unless memorizing formulas gives you a boner. >_>
I think Physics also deals with a lot of formulas, but I could be wrong.
