I came across a scene collection of ps4 games (nearly complete) that was 12TBs. That's a hell of a collection you can play with a hacked ps4. Sure the firmware is old and the scene is kinda dead but cmon we don't have hardware access like we do with the switch. Where keys are dumped again in the same day as a firmware update.

If you can afford it, have 1 hacked ps4 for the backups and 1 for newer releases and updated firmware

Sent from my toaster running Rebug
But that's the thing, imma hack it for now, play the shmirlk out of the old games, when im done, update and buy legit games hehe

At the moment it is not convenient as in previous consoles.

For example, you buy a game (legal) and you can't play it on your PS4 with 5.05. Firmware 1.76 was released over 5 years ago and there is still nothing really useful. So you can wait at least another 5-10 years for "CFW" for PS4

Depending on how you use it, if you want the latest games, it will be best to update PS4, in 5-10 years may be "CFW" for PS4, but it will be on the latest version so there is no reason to wait.

Now there is a private kernel exploit, but developers will not release it and do not plan to release at least another min. 5 years as I read.

Honestly, not really. There are tons of other ways you can run emulators on either a budget PC or a Android device with a gamepad.Even the PS3 has better ps2 compatibility than the PS4 does right now.If you just want to pirate PS4 exclusives with a few extra emulators in Linux mode, then it might be alright. However you are still limited to the games that came out before 5.05,so you are going to need 2 ps4's if you want to continue playing the newest exclusive games.

I'm mixed about this really. I have one and a heap of games installed on a USB drive, yet I can't play the newer games (Spidey being the main one I want to check out) and so have the conundrum of do I buy a new one or do I update? - Emulators mean nothing to me as I have a ton of systems I can already do that on. But as of now, my PS4 just sits there gathering dust. However I also fear that if I did update, I'd regret it at some point.

I took a look at the AlVro PS4 collection, which I'm sure is not 100% complete, but it's probably the closest we have to a complete list of 5.05 playable games.

I took that list, removed any possible dupes (JPN, EUR, MULTI-even though some of those are unique), repacks, un-propers, patches, updates, DLC, multiple group releases...and came up with a condensed list.

What I see is about one thousand games totaling to 10TB!!

So say you don't care about small, independent games (even though there some really good ones out there!). If you just look at game sizes 2GB and above, you end up with 670 games.

OK, maybe you only like 20% of those games. That's over 130 CURRENT GEN AAA games!

If you can find a 5.05 PS4 for $500, that comes out to $3.85 per game. Not to mention you have a tangible piece of hardware that you could sell later on if you wanted to.

I already have a PS4 Pro at 5.05. I'll be playing mine for a while longer. :)

I also have an PS4 Pro that I keep online for any newer or multiplayer PSN games so needless to say, I'm a happy gamer!

I remember when I use to play copied games on my PSX, wow that was in 1995,cause they were the days before Pre Owned games were on sale,it was like meeting a drug dealer.. :), I phone him up to ask for a game and meeting him on a corner of a road, I give him a £5 and he give me the CD and leave... :) then play it on my PSX they were always TDK CDs.
There is no point to it now, most people that want to do it want to play backups, one of the reasons Alien Isolation 2 didn't get made was that Alien Isolation had poor sales and on PC it would cause of cracked copies of it,I bought the game on PS4 and PC,I thought it was a brilliant game,it's just a shame, but that what it can do,kill a game.that why coping games is fine just make sure you buy it to help the developer.

well getting a pc is also an option, to get the best of both worlds. buy a game you truly want or get it somewhere else. well but pc is digital only so your internet connection is in your way.

So I don't think PS4's can play PS4 hacked games newer than April 2018. Any chance compatibility is improved sometime within the next year?

And is there a legitimate chance we eventually get PS3 iso compatibility with the PS4?

7.xx hax exist, but won’t be made public for a long time, unless something leaks. so don’t bank on it being soon.

zero chance of PS3 on PS4 unless you’re using Linux on it and RPCS3.

By long time are we talking about sometime in early 2021? Seems like the obvious choice since by that point the PS5 will have launched and the amount of high caliber PS4 releases will start to decline severely.

Also is there a listing of PS4 games produced on April 2018 and before? Would like to know what backup games are currently capable of running.

@Prior22 no one knows. No point guessing.

anything released before GOW pretty much.

no lists really exist, unless you can locate a back ups repo and view the contents, they’re guaranteed to work.

not worth it, the scene isnt really active and you are locked to 5.05 games
a hacked ps3/vita/switch is better

They each have their advantages, why not have all 4?

switch is probably least interesting to me.
Same I'm just not a nintendo guy
The titles don't interest me
Always been playstation for me
But each to their own
