Hardware Is Ethernet Cables the optimized way to transfer data between consoles?

Just a curious thought, I got two ps4 and now transferring the data between them, but it requires a usb cable. I never done this before... except on ps3 but is just something that bothered me. I was wondering if that is the optimal way to do it? I know other stuff like 3DS use wifi mixed with simple sd card swap, but I was curious which would be the optimal way to do a data transfer if it wasn't lan cables.

Transferring data through USB will loose because Ethernet cable transfer near the speed of light.

Ethernet will definitely be faster than usb you might need 2 cables and a router though the official instructions says just one lan cable so go ahead and try it. Definitely won't be anywhere near the speed of light

You can connect them directly with an ethernet cable, fairly sure the PS4 hardware will automatically setup the wire. Then just go into static ip settings.

Otherwise you will need a router or at least something running a DHCP server on the network.

Not really. First of all, the cable itself isn't the only bottleneck. Second, light travels much slower through a material than a vacuum. iirc, the speed was something along the lines of 0.64*c? And don't forget about the extra data for error correction, etc.
