Hacking Is CBHC worth installing?

This discussion has been had before. Each to their own was the conclusion. Personally I would rather not risk brick (however remote that may be) for the sake of 8 seconds. i.e. boot WiiU, click haxchi (default set to return to Menu), done. Even if your kid clicks haxchi - nothing happens - it just reloads sysmenu with patches. No risk. No kid risk. No delete NNID risk. No corruption risk. No deletion risk. Just 8 seconds of your life. But, like I said, each to their own.

I don't use it personally, I have a nice homebrew icon on my homescreen in the event I wish to easily load homebrew apps.

Disgusting? You must mean a "dirty" hack. Disgusting would relate to malware. CBHC is not malware, just dirty, as things could go wrong using it, under some circumstances.

My opinion on it is, if you're the single user of your Wii U (nobody else is touching it), use CBHC worry-free. If some other people use your console too, play it safe and stay with Haxchi. Kids, especially, will always try and find a way to screw things up.

I think it is just a case of the word disgusting being one of those English words that have totally different meanings depending on where you live. Here disgusting means something that is wrong or dangerous. If i travel 124 miles into England disgusting means something that smells really bad or someone who is ugly ect.

I have been reading a few topics and wanted to know people's opinion on installing CBHC.

I know it can save a few seconds but it always warrants the risk of bricking your wii u if you touch it.

CBHC is actually safe, the only way you will brick is if you don't follow simple directions.

You can touch the icon on the Home screen, and it will just relaunch Haxchi. You won't brick.

You can even move around the Icon on the Home screen to where ever you want, you can even move it to a folder if you want. The icon is just a shortcut, nothing more.

When they say "Don't Move CBHC", They mean don't move it from Nand to USB or USB to Nand.

Just as long as you don't format your console or delete CBHC via system settings, or remove the NNID that was used to buy the CBHC VC game, you wont brick.

Kafluke has CBHC installed on his WiiU, and he even has kids that use his WiiU every day.

That alone should tell you it's safe. Every WiiU CBHC brick, was due to user error, not the fault of CBHC.

Like I said, as long as you can follow simple directions, you wont brick.

Not only that, but CBHC is so easy to install I'd trust myself to have done it 10 years ago. The fear of possible bricking is something that is dreadfully common for how few people actually end up with a brick. I had CBHC up and running quick and painlessly, knowing very little about the Wii U when I installed it (I was a veteran, having softmodded a plethora of other consoles previously, though).

I cannot overstate the significance of the word "simple" that you used. It is really that simple.

I remember a long time ago when someone used a friend's laptop which they ended up slowing it down and other means.

At that time I was baffled how they could slow down this laptop/break it.
In the end the I saw the device as not idiot proof.
Although you yourself is reliable unless under some intense depression, hallucinations or under some influence of a drug. Then everything should be fine.
But trusting other people is a different matter and making your console prone to bricking is an issue.

if ppl are so paranoid, they should lock up their consoles not letting any one else to touch them. Others can always format your consoles erasing all your saves, format your HDD and gone with all your games or even try to hack your consoles without knowing anything...
All in all, to each of their own.
