I have been reading a few topics and wanted to know people's opinion on installing CBHC.

I know it can save a few seconds but it always warrants the risk of bricking your wii u if you touch it.

What are your opinions?

I rather have QuickBoot enabled and select Haxchi from there because well... the fact that game could get corrupted or something weird means instant brick I rather not take the risk.

I have been using it for years without trouble (and this is even an earlier version than the current one, without the idiot proofing), however I see why you may be needlessly afraid:

risk of bricking your wii u if you touch it.
The part I bolded is wrong: the risk is there if you do things blindly without understanding them. And the known risky actions are properly documented in the CBHC topic in the first place!

proud coldboothax user for over about 1.5 years now.

It's really easy not to screw it up, there is even measures to prevent you from bricking yourself.
things like
when in cbhc/haxchi cfw it will now protect against installing over the used ds vc title
when in cbhc/haxchi cfw, patch system menu version to be 99.99.99 to protect from potential updates
in the data manager, it won't even let you move it to a usb, which I think that same sentiment applies to deleting, wouldn't try it though.
As long as
You don't format the console
you don't touch the internals of it inside ftpiiu everywhere
then your perfectly fine. And the amount of seconds it saves is a lot more than haxchi plus quick start. Wiiu start up takes roughly 25 seconds. with coldboothax, it takes about 27 seconds, and with haxchi quick start, takes 32 seconds. Which honestly, it's well worth it. Because the wiiu start up time is not quick by any means.

I would say it's worth if just so that your hacked Wii U doesn't feel like a hacked Wii U every time you boot it. With CBHC, you get a "native" experience in that your console boots straight to the home screen, with everything working just as it would if the console was not hacked. Without CBHC, there are extra steps you have to take to play your games. Steps that remind you every time of the jerry rigging that was done so that you can play your "backup" games. Coldboot Hax are awlays worth it so that your experience with the console can be as close as, or exactly how the console developers intended it to be, at least in terms of boot and play. And as others have said, the risk is very, very small, as long as you can read directions.

What happens if out of nowhere the game for some reason got corrupted? BRICKED.

Still, it's worth the risk. And, I have never heard of such a thing happening yet. 100% of the CBHC brick stories I have seen have all been from user error. I would say the risk of the game getting corrupted is no greater than the risk of any other piece of hardware on the wii u getting corrupted and rendering the console inoperable, and needing repair.

I've had my wii U for about 7 months now & I did CBHC after just getting sick of doing the browser hack.. As long as you stick to the basic rules of CBHC.. You'll be fine.. Saving time in between the GC injects... Just feels smoother most reports of bricking is because the deleted the base game / original profile ect..

Unless you’re an idiot who might format your system without uninstalling cbhc first, it is completely worth it.
Using it for years and no problems.

What happens if any other critical system title (which are a lot more, nand blocks wise) for some reason gets corrupted?

Why were you dumb enough to not keep a known working backup in the first place?

I bought a Wii U last year in June and from the moment I got it out of the box I safely installed CBHC and, here I am a year later and still using CBHC just fine.
I install all of my games on an external drive as well so I'm almost never dicking around with stuff on the System Memory anyway.

Honestly, the number of pansies in the Wii U scene afraid of using CBHC for complete nonsense reasons is pitiful, but I digress, to each his own I suppose.
As for myself, it's totally worth it. I don't want to have to worry about manually running some exploit or homebrew every time I want to run particular custom/unsigned titles or whatever, so boot time CFW is a must for me.

The only real "negative" is I guess that you can't use the Quick Menu properly with CBHC installed, because of how the exploit is run.
Not that it's dangerous or anything to use the Quick Menu with CBHC, it just doesn't work right, I guess.

I myself never used the Quick Menu to begin with because I got the Wii U so late I never had the chance to even try it, but it doesn't seem like something I'd miss if the alternative is trying to remember what titles have unsigned DLCs or what titles are unsigned or not or whatever so I can avoid accidentally freezing the console up. Too much of a headache.

same thing could happen that your entire nand corrupts aswhell o even the wiiu system menu itself, it has the same excat chance f corrupting your official wiiu menu nstall than any title on wiiu menu so yeah your wiiu can die at any moment really.

Not worth it.
Perhaps easy for you but what happens with it after something bad happens to you? I am serious.
I am on the road a lot and i see accidents on a weekly base...could happen to me.
So my wiiu goes to my niece or nephew...guess what...they will reformat.... With cbhc instant brick, with haxchi not.
