Apple iPod Touch 4th generation

I'm picking this up today. Just wondering what are some good apps and features you recommend me to use?

I have the ipod 4............. it sucks to me. Barely any games work and safari crashes on me. (maybe because it's jailbroken) iPod 5 or iPhone 4 is WAY better.

Xexyz is right. Many games just don't like the iPod Touch 4's lower amount of RAM, so they are incompatible with it.
But there are plenty of good apps that could run on it:
Infinity Blade should be compatible (not sure about 2)
Some of Square-Enix' games are quite good (Chaos Rings, TWEwY: Solo Remix), but not many will be compatible.
Bastion and Limbo are excellent.
Orborun is a game I've been playing quite a lot on my Android when I have to wait.
I've heard that the Pacific Rim game is a well-built fighter.
Speaking of fighters, I haven't played it on iOS, but Street Fighter x Tekken is pretty damn sweet on consoles.

If you like rhythm games, Cytus and Osu!Stream are the way to go.
And pretty much any app Vsauce3 recommends.

Make sure it's on iOS 4. I'm on iOS 5.1.1 and it's very laggy. But many other apps do run on the iPod (netflix doesn't work though ) . Restore would help too.

Don't get it, it's a huge mistake if you do, get the ipod 5, or since you just want to use it like an ipod, just get an iphone locked to telus (very CHEAP) and use that as an ipod

I mostly only use mine for music, as I have an android tablet to do just about everything else. You can free up a little bit of RAM by deleting some launch daemons, however, it'll maybe only fre up about 30 mb at most. I highly suggest getting the iPod Touch 5 if you want to be able to run all of the latest applications and such.

Or Nexus 7 which is $70 cheaper than iPod 5. If you want an apple device iPod 5 is for you.

Unless he wants to listen to music as well, as the reason why I have an iPod at all is mainly just to listen to music. Carrying my tablet around to listen to music is a pain.

I bought my iPod Touch from a friend for 30 bucks, lol. If I wanted to spend more money on an audio player, I'd save up for a Zune or Cowon, but for 30 bucks there was no way I wouldn't buy it.

You should really consider jailbreaking your device if you really want to get it's full potential. Siri is on the iTouch 5, not the 4, although it can be obtained on the 4 through jailbreak. Honestly though, I can't seem to find any use for Siri, so I chose not to have that feature at all.

When you get your iPod 5G turn off Siri, voice control, mail Push and if you're on iOS 6.1.2 jailbreak it and install BDP

If you want iOS 7, wait for the jailbreak, it's almost done! Also iPod 4 can't run iOS 7.

Hmmm.. I am planning to jailbreak my new one that I'm getting in a hour or two but thanks for the save guys. This guy told me that his iPod 4 was very laggy and overheated very often.

A tip for you, don't JB, I did it on mine, and It started to lag like crazy, even after I restored it, it was never the same again.
