Things that I hoped would work that didn't or doesn't even exist:
1. animated GIFs
2. SWF files
3. Changing audio/subtitles within mkv files
4. Right/Left audio channels for Chinese dramas
5. DPGs (I mean natively, I realize that I could always grab MoonShell and put it on the cart)
On that note though, they claimed .flv support, and I'm only getting audio. (I can't skip with the timeline either)

But I am very surprised how well avi files play. I think I'm finally going to catch up on Bleach with this thing. I didn't really want to convert like a hundred episodes.
Bleach is not worth getting caught up with >_>

So back to the thread The subtitle function would it really matter?
How many videos other than anime or foreign films would need subtitles?

I'd have to agree with you on this point. Most anime (which Is what I think most of us will watch

) already comes with subtitles embedded into the bottom of the video. You don't need subtitle files.

If you want your video to have subtitles and play them on the DS, you'd have to actually have the subtitle file already typed up...and those are hard to find for most movies. And it's definitely not worth making your own...

I think your over hyping this.
It will eventually die faster than any other flash cart out there for the sole reason that it doesnt play back ups.
100% of the people buy it for that reason no matter what hypocrites say.
We are in 09 where HDTV is the new rage, Blu ray etc.
Even the PSP and Ipod Touch have a better picture and resolution than the DS.
Nintendo just like keeping stuff inexpensive and do what it was meant to play games.
I agree that MOST people buy flashcarts for pirating. I did. But I am being TOTALLY honest now, I never pirate DS games ANYMORE (last one I pirated was GTA and its the only game I have this year). Now, I use my DS for media. I have the ENTIRE series of Futurama on my DS and 3 seasons of the simpsons and that only makes up half of the media I have on my DS (granted they were purposely converted at a lower quality to be a smaller size). Sure, I CAN get better quality HD crap, but I'm am much happier with more content. I must say that I am really intereested in this device, the only problem being that I am going to end up converting these videos anyway to get smaller file sizes and I have a Dingoo A320 on the way already. BTW, I own an HD TV. I'm sorry, but you're a wrong for calling the iPlayer a failure. It only seems so in comparison because look at what flashcarts do. Parents or kids see it as "OMG FREE GAMES", not pirating. Of course they will sell like hotcakes. And what's wrong with them implementing subtitles now. Its not like you have to buy anything extra to get it to run. Just install a new firmware. I'm sure that many people who want the iPlayer maybe haven't got it yet, so its not much of a big deal.

And about Nintendo being inexpesnive, the only thing inexpensive in my experience have been the console itself. I don't believe you can get much game related cheap anymore today. Wildly inflated prices.

This is a great feature to add to a flashcart.
Maybe some day people will be able to use this like language patches of ROMs. (MarioRPG3

I mainly bought that cart for playing FLVs I got on the chinese Youtube-like site Tudou.com (that features a long of full-lenght movies, plays, and tv programs). Average quality and small resolution of FLVs are therefore more appropriate for DS screen rather than my CPU screen, and they play fine on iPlayer (I can skip with the timeline too). 200/300mb for a 1h30/2h program, I can put a lot of these into the microSD, and I'm happy with that (the more I have contents, even with smaller quality, the happier I am). So until now, I'm really satisfied with that cart, it does just what I expect and want from it. I don't give a damn about HD or Blu-Ray, I still have a VHS player, that's to say

PS : The actual matter with MP4 not being OFFICIALLY supported is that it takes far more ressources to be perfectly decoded that the chip and the DS can handle. So it's gonna lag, as a matter of fact !

That the iPlayer is a failure, and that this news about the subtitles being implemented should have been
available to begin with.
I'm not trolling I'm stating the facts.
Only those that don't have a HDTV wouldn't agree with me.
Anyone wanting to play videos on the go shouldn't look for a DS they should pick a PSP or iPod Touch/Phone.
Simply you can live without any gadgets its true, but if your here your not one of them.
Your one of us or their wouldn't be a reason to hang in this site.

So back to the thread The subtitle function would it really matter?

No, you're not stating the facts, but you are, in fact, trolling..You confirmed it with this post..

How do you define iPlayer as a failure? There are people that are fairly interested in it.
I do have a full HDTV, and I really don't care for it all that much!
I already said it, I don't want PSP or iPod touch, I already have DS (two in fact), and I'm very satisfied with it, no need for getting anything else, because I ENJOY SMALL SCREENS!
I'm not saying I can live without gadgets, I'm saying that I love using multimedia on my DS, and that this cart is a perfect solution for me, as I already have three flashcarts..

And are you really THAT IGNORANT, that you think that only english people use DS and watch movies, so subtitles are needed only for anime and "foreign" movies, every movie in english is "foreign" to me..

You have to convert it if it has a resolution of more than 640

No, I don't think you really have to convert, only the video will be maybe be more laggy, I'm wrong?

Anyway, just ordered the thing, I hate converting videos, maybe with this I'll start to use my DS as a little video player, along with my PSP (video UMD) and dingoo.

the argument as toni said means tht ppl have different tastes just like psp and ds are good in their own aspects but ppl still like to play either... ppl will buy it if they like to view videos on a trip or on some other occasion but it is worth it for many ppl if not all and it's getting hot
By the way, what movie is tht

Very nice add to the ppl who actually own the iPlayer .. and adding to the argument with toni, I think that the kid is giving is *OWN* opinions and no one has to actually listen to him. Just because he thinks that HDTV and Blue-Ray iis a big whoop, ppl still enjoy things even though its old like SNES ...

If you guys are expecting to play softsubbed anime with this, they are going to have to add .ssa and .ass support. (unless they're assuming you're buying the dvds)

I suppose you can always convert... but this is the iPlayer we're talking about. Why make us convert?
