Apple iPhone sending screwed up messages?

So my friend sent me a message and I sent a reply but instead of replying to my answer he sends me a message saying, "what was that?"
I replied I didn't know what he was talking about but he sent me what my phone apparently sent him.
"FWD: No... It??@5?acN5cNM?N5?"
What I sent was "No... It made me so mad."
There's no history of this on my conversations, so if anyone knows want happened that would be appreciated.
I'm running an iPhone 4 on 4.3.1 and I'm jailbroke. Also I replied using Tlert if that matters.

I've also had this issue, at least once a month on average.
My iPhone is from AT&T as well, and would like whatever insight is around.
