Hacking Installing VC games

Well just playing around with Magic Iso and the VC game Diddy Kong (recently dumped) i have come across something strange. Dont know if it's any use but it's weird.

I opened magic iso and inserted all the files of the Diddy Kong VC game.
Then saved all these files into a .iso file
Then renamed the .iso file to a .wad file

Sounds silly, but then i named it to title.wad and went ahead and tried to install it with the WAD installer that Waninkoko released today.

This is what it said:

Mounting SD card: OK
Opening WAD: OK
Opening Title: OK
Installing WAD: OK

Then it tries to install the ticket and says:

Installing ticket: ERROR


I'm not sure what this means because i am using the ticket from the game. Maybe it needs to be signed somehow? or maybe the ticket needs to be hex edited to match the title? Maybe it's something totally different?

Thing is it seems to be installing fine until it gets to the ticket file. Am i onto something? Probably not, but you would think that the program would lock up or give an error when opening the .WAD file but it doesn't.

EDIT: Looks like someone has figured it out already with the new VC games being released as WAD files.

I haven't seen any VC game released as a WAD....

Might be on to something...

Try it with one of your own VC games... just delete if from your Wii, then do your .iso/.wad thing to see if it'll load...

if it does, then all you'd have to do is figure out how to change the WiiKey for anyone to load the VC Title...

if it doesn't work, then something else needs to happen before you can load the VC title.

No the PAL VC games will not work on a NTSC Wii as far as i know.

I dont have any VC games of my own to try. Anyway all we have to do now is download and install them seeing as they have figured out a way to make a WAD file out of them.

just to let you lot know, i have a PAL wii and ive tried endless amount of times to install and it just wont work, always stops on the code dump bit and then crashes.
i have tried all versions of twilight hack booting through Zelda with and without wiiHL and same with homebrew channel, i tried formatting to FAT16 and then FAT32 and it made no difference so i give up and im going to bed as i just spent the last 3 hours trying to innstall a channel without success yet it seems to be going good for everyone else. think i'll just wait untill a new wad installer comes out

It works fine using the twilight hack, Bit of a pain as you can only do 1 game at a time..... Not like ive got anything better to do on a Sunday though

Just used it to install DK Jr

Dont bother trying to make your own WAD files, Just use the new releases that are already WADs and they install and work fine

So what is this homebrewchan_installer.nolimits.elf that someone linked to in the other VC thread? Is this thing going to brick my system or will it prevent me from doing the TP exploit every time I want to install a VC game?

I get the same - code dump message + loads of hex. Tried 2 different VCs to see if that was the problem, but same on both. Unless I'm seeing things though, looks like waninkoko has pulled the wad installer from his site - I can't see it any more. Maybe that's the problem?

Root directory is just the ./ dir. So if you have a memory card reader on your PC and the SD card is being read as drive F: for example, you would just put the boot.elf on F:/ and that is the root.
