Nintendo bans a number of Switch 2 consoles over the weekend, internal server error reportedly to blame

Over the weekend a number of Switch and Switch 2 related subreddits came alive with people reporting bans on their Switch 2 consoles out of nowhere. The error code shown, 2124-4508, completely restricts a console's ability to interact with Nintendo's online services. This most importantly means no access to the eShop, along with any kind of online play. On the various posts floating around, posters claimed to have had nothing to do with piracy, with many stating they have never so much as bought a pre-owned game for the system, adding further confusion as to what exactly might have triggered the error.

Today these bans appear to have been reversed, with affected users advised to reboot their console if they were affected. One poster stated that, after a conversation with a Nintendo support representative, they were told that this was all a result of an internal server error.

Were you affected over the weekend, or know somebody who was? Let us know below.

Nintendo has silently made a new revision for their Switch 2, most people are not aware of it. The new Switch 2 has screws at the joy-con connectors.

Since when exactly can Valve completely brick my PC again? Oh right, since never.
Also, no other console has had it before that has a kill switch in the form of a complete brick. Banned from service doesn't mean you can't play what you still own, and especially on PC you can crack the games, play offline, use other launchers, etc. When you use a walled garden console, you're done for. Do I... really need to explain logic as simple as this?
complete brick? the f are you on about. It's a simple online ban, your machine is not bricked. If you're bring cracked games into the equation then wait for the sw2 jailbreak. The point is that this is a simple service denial which any company can do. They DO NOT brick your machine, they execute a right on their own hardware (a server that they own) to deny your access to it. This is the same scenario to a Steam Machine. Sure your dumbass brain might retaliate back at me saying that you can install Window on your Steam Machine and use other stuffs but that's the same as jailbreaking the switch. YOU yourself do not get such simple logic. Both Steam and Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft does the exact same thing, the difference is the openness of the machine which again has nothing to do with the action/right that these company has. Even with switch 2 you can still play true physical games or even in the case of GKC, you can presumably still play that if you have another working switch to transfer the GKC's data to it (yes it's possible and I assume it's offline transfer, but don't quote me on this, EDIT: yup, work locally).
